Eliminate your negative karmas with virtues accumulated from crossing over others, performing liberation of captive lives, and recitation – this is the wisest thing to do.  Shun your debts and  you gain freedom.  Further earnings will be your net profit.  Perform more virtuous deeds to eliminate your negative karmas, and you will be free from trouble, worries and calamities.  You must aim to clear your debts.  There is no way that one could be debt laden and earn an income at the same time.  You should perform more virtuous deeds to eliminate your karmic obstacles, only then you are free from troubles and calamities.

MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL CELEBRATION

Male Listener :  Master, please enlighten us on Mid- Autumn Festival from the metaphysics perspective.

Master :  The 15th day on the 8th Lunar month is also a festival in heaven.  It is a day where family members comes together, a day of celebration - though not necessary for everyone to be present.  It is hoped that this day will bring happiness to the family.  In fact, on this day, it is best to stay home to perform recitations.  You pray for the well-beings and reunion of the family members.  As a matter of fact, making these wishes on this day, is more effective than when you do so on the normal 1st and 15th day of other Lunar months.  Unfortunately, many people celebrate this day by consuming massive amount of fish and meat, in which after this festival, death may befall their family members.  That is why consuming live seafood is strictly forbidden.

It is through giving that you shall gain.  A genuine dharma practitioner should never cause harm or hold resentment against others.  Others may hurt or double-cross us, but we should never hold resentment against them.

As our hearts are pure, once we do so, it will be contaminated.  Our calm mind is ruffled, our kind and wholesome inherent nature will hence be undermined.  So, when others are experiencing the effect of their cause, do not let their negative karma undermine our kind inherent nature.

Do not let other people's wrongdoings harm ourselves.  Do not keep other people's faults in mind, as they there are all “bad points”.  Just like computer viruses.  If you keep in mind all bad things, all resentments, over time, your computer will surely crash.  Delete all ill-treatments by others towards us, fill our hearts with hopes and happiness.  Only then you can prolong the lifespan of your computer.  Only then your highway of life will be broadened.

Things in our lives are loaned to us and could not be taken with us when we leave this world.  Why do we continue to have more desires, and endure greater stress in the process?  We should not worry anymore about all the things that we had lost.  All that you have gained, shall be lost. I was asked this question, “how can I avoid losing what I have gained?”  My answer is, if you fear losing, you should gain less. With lesser gains, there are lesser worries. With no gain, there shall be no worry.
