*SUFFERING IS PREVALENT, HOW CAN WE BE LIBERATED?*

Master Jun Hong Lu, “Do not lose our bearings in the midst of our worries in the hustle and bustle of this mortal world.

We are haunted by worries every single day; unhappy over something that happened today, dissatisfied over what we may hear the next day and dispirited for the bad treatment we may receive from our boss the following day. As much as suffering is prevalent, how can we be liberated? Our Buddhist practices: performing recitation, making vows and life liberation may seem like suffering to us. However, it is the mean that grant us liberation in the end; while for a non-Buddhist practitioner, their suffering is for life.

A person who gives thought to how he wishes to live his advancing years while safeguarding his spiritual wound from going through further torments is a true Buddhist cultivator who is loyal to the reality of life.”

*HOW DO WE ENGENDER HEARTFELT REPENTANCE*

Caller : How do we engender heartfelt repentance

Master Jun Hong Lu: You will have to be truthful when you repent and feel remorseful at the same time. However, this is possible only if you know the root of your wrongdoing. If you are not insightful of the misdeed, it will be impossible to ignite the sense of sincerity in your repentance. What do we mean by heartfelt? Heartfelt repentance will only come about if we understand the severity of our wrongdoing and how it was contrary to our principle coupled with the determination of not committing the same mistake again.

Caller: I understand.

*LIVE WITHOUT STRESS THROUGH THE UNDERSTANDING OF NEGATIVE ENERGIES*

Vexation is the punishment we inflict upon ourselves for the mistakes we have done; when we allowed our faults to stick in our mind and torture us long after we returned home.

Regret is when we allow the uncontrollable adverse events in the past to ruin us.

Anxiety is when we allow the virtual and probable risks that have yet to happen to frighten us.

Loneliness is when we confine ourselves in our self-erected cell.

Inferiority complex is when we slander ourselves with the strength of others; failing to understand that each person has their own strength.

Understanding these negative energies will enable us to lead a stress free life; steering away from them will allow us to gain insights, let go of our attachments and gain wisdom.

*RECITING _MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS_*

Question:  Can we incorporate 49 times of _Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots_ in our daily recitation continuously, to generally resolve any negative karmic affinities, even if we do not have any specific party in mind?

Answer:  (If you pray to generally resolve any negative karmic affinities when reciting _Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots_) You may continue to incorporate 49 times of _Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots_ in your daily recitation.

[emoji253]Dear Buddhist friends,

One of our English group translators Winnie Yee’s mother passed away peacefully this morning. Her late mother was a diligent Buddhist follower who performed daily recitation and Little Houses.

We would like to appeal all Buddhist friends in reciting the Great Compassion Mantra for her. They will bear their own karmas.

The recommended prayer is as follows:
Namo The Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva (3 times).
“I XXX will recite (number of times) of The Great Compassionate Mantra for Wong Nyuk Lin. May The Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva bless and lead Wong Nyuk Lin to transcend out of the six realms of rebirth or to a better realm. I will not interfere with her karma.

Deepest gratitude to The Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva.”

Thank you with Metta

MASTER JUN HONG LU'S DISCOURSE ON THE COMMEMORATION OF GUAN YIN BODHISATTVA'S BIRTHDAY

Caller: Master Jun Hong Lu, this coming Sunday will be the commemoration of Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s birthday. Please give us a few words about this day.

Master Jun Hong Lu: This Sunday is Guan Yin Bodhisattva’s birthday. The compassionate heavenly mother of ours has given us so much. We could never possibly repay what she has given us in this very life time. The only thing we can do is to never let our beloved Mother down. Let us promote her spirit of compassion. For me personally, my goal is to promote traditional Chinese culture, wisdom and the compassionate spirit of Guan Yin Bodhisattva to every corner of the world.

May there be more compassion and less hatred in this world. The world today is in a state of turmoil. I read a news report this morning that there was only one day in March with no bloodshed due to terrorist attacks. Since the New Year’s Day in 2016, there were only 9 days that the world was spared from calamities. News like this is truly chilling. We are all the inhabitants of Planet Earth. Why are we killing each other? We must use the compassion of Guan Yin Bodhisattva to save more sentient beings, allowing more to be emancipated spiritually, be freed from suffering and gain happiness.
Their feelings of hatred, resentment and selfishness have not only harmed themselves but also the kind-hearted people on earth.

Let us wish for world peace and may the birthday of Guan Yin Bodhisattva motivate us to have more compassion towards all sentient beings and to help more predestined sentient beings in this world. Our ultimate goal is for sentient beings to be freed from suffering, to gain happiness and to be liberated from the Six Realm of Rebirths.

Caller: Indeed. Thank you Master for your teachings. May we fill the world with the love of Guan Yin Bodhisattva.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, that is very important.

*PERSIST AND NEVER ALLOW OURSELVES TO SLACKEN IN OUR BUDDHIST PRACTICE*

Master Jun Hong Lu, “I once said, we came to this world crying and at the end we are going to leave this world in tears. Do not be disheartened over some trivial matters. Scientists had already uncovered that all our ailments are related to our energy field. After an outburst of anger, our “qi" will be blocked and results in poor circulation of blood. Consequently, this will lead to development of various types of tumour and other malignant growth in our body. Hence, we must always see through and understand the nature of things; persist and never allow ourselves to slacken in our Buddhist practice. Additionally, we must learn to liberate ourselves without restraint, no matter what life throws at us.”

*MERITS FROM GIVING THE TEACHINGS OF BUDDHA (DHARMA DANA)*

Caller: I wish to better my self-cultivation and to dedicate myself to progress. Though I do not perform much life liberation, I do my utmost to help others awaken spiritually, and with every person I helped, I will tell him to “refrain from the act of killing, not to consume live creatures and to be a vegetarian on the 1st and 15th days of the lunar calendar months”.

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right.

Caller: Does this measure up to the merits from performing life liberation? Or..?

Master Jun Hong Lu: The merits are even greater! This is because the Dharma Dana is the greatest among the three types of Dana; the other two being Wealth Dana and Fearlessness Dana.

*LEARNING BUDDHISM WHOLEHEARTEDLY, DILIGENTLY AND GENUINELY*

Master Jun Hong Lu: A lot of people learn Buddhism throughout their lifetime. However, they do not know what actually are they practising in the end. They are just putting on an act as a Buddhist practitioner to gain the respect of others. They are simply trying to fish for compliments and this is sheer self-deception. I hope that all of you learn Buddhism wholeheartedly, diligently and genuinely. Very genuinely. One must be genuine when it comes to Buddhism learning so as to achieve the desired state.

*SPIRITUAL CULTIVATION IS THE WAY TO HELP US ELIMINATE ALL OUR EVIL THOUGHTS, BAD HABITS AND POOR CONDUCT*

In this modern age, we are preoccupied with self-interests and are less considerate towards others. When we are at odds with our spouse or children, we only care about our own feelings and disregard theirs. For this reason, we chose to utter words that are most hurtful to the other party in order to gain a temporary sense of happiness and alleviation from sufferings. As a result, we become more and more evil. Spiritual cultivation is the way to help us eliminate all our evil thoughts, bad habits and poor conduct.
