*HOW DO WE DEAL WITH THE LITTLE WORMS IN OUR RICE*

Caller: Master, how do we deal with the little worms in our rice?

Master Jun Hong Lu: If you find little worms in your rice, recite a few *_Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra_* (Wang Sheng Zhou).

Caller:. If I pick it up and flush it down the drain, will this be regarded as life liberation?

Master Jun Hong Lu: You should pick it up, wrap it in a small paper bag and throw it away. In this way, it is considered as performing life liberation; as you let it fends its own survival. Instead, if you flush it away in the water, don’t you think you are drowning it?

Caller: I understand.

*ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL WOMEN HERE TO REPAY THEIR “DEBTS OF AFFECTION”*

Question: Are all beautiful women here to repay their "debts of affection"?

Answer: It depends. Those whose looks are coquettishly pretty and seductive are generally here to repay their debts of affection. As for those with nice facial features, it is not necessarily so.

Question: What will be your advice to those who are coquettishly pretty, who are here to repay their debts of affection? Is there anything they should be cautious about?

Answer: Be mindful not to commit lewd act; “Lewdness is the worst of all sins”. One has to maintain the purity of one’s mind and body.

*PRACTISING BUDDHISM IS TO BENEFIT SENTIENT BEINGS*

What is the point of practising Buddhism if not for benefitting sentient beings?
Practising Buddhism is not simply about self-benefits. Conversely, Buddhist practitioners should know that handling of all worldly affairs demand a mindset that transcends it.

*PORTRAITS OF THE LIVING MAY BE SHREDDED*

Caller: If we do not wish to retain large portrait of those alive, are we allowed to shred it?

Master Jun Hong Lu: You may shred it.

Caller: I have kept and wrapped up my large wedding photos for a couple of years, I wonder if I can shred it?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Discard and shred it. Photos of those alive are best to be kept small in size.

Caller: That’s right. I was unaware previously and took a large wedding photo which I hung on the wall. After that, I took it down and kept it away for a couple of years. I intend to shred it.

Master Jun Hong Lu: If you don't take it down, there will be constant quarrel, and foreign spirit may attach to it as well.

*SEXUAL MISCONDUCT IS A GRAVE SIN IN THE CELESTIAL REALM; ONE IS UNABLE TO ASCEND TO HEAVEN IF SUCH SIN IS NOT ELIMINATED*

Caller: I would like to ask Master Lu about a dream. A deceased Buddhist friend from Singapore, who had transcended the Six Realms of Karmic Rebirth with over 2,000 Little Houses, came to my dream two days ago. I heard her voice telling me, “People who have committed sexual misconduct or adultery are unable to ascend to Heaven, even if it happens in a Dream Test. So one must…” It seems like saying “one must totally eliminate it”. Master Lu, is this dream true?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, really. It’s 200% true! Do you know why I keep telling people to refrain from sexual misconduct in my radio programs and at my Dharma talks? Because sexual misconduct has increasingly serious consequences nowadays, which is considered as a grave sin in the celestial realm.

*SUFFERING IS A WAY OF REPAYING OUR KARMIC DEBTS; “HAPPINESS COMES AFTER SUFFERING”*

Caller: Master, at times, when you were reading Totem you commented that certain person had gone through a lot of sufferings but he was just keeping mum about it. May I ask, generally for cases like this, is it because the person was indebted to the other party, hence he remained silent while enduring the suffering?

Master Jun Hong Lu: It is generally so. Suffering in silence implies that he is bearing the suffering; and bearing itself, is a form of repayment. Do you understand?

Caller: This kind of temperament is also useful in helping us to break off an affinity. Is it right for me to say so, Master?

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right. You see, there are people who keep going through sufferings after sufferings. Do you have any idea what comes next?

Caller: Happiness comes after suffering.

Master Lu: That’s it. He is not creating any new karma.

Caller: Thank you Master for answering my question.

*REGARDLESS OF REPAYING OR CLAIMING KARMIC DEBTS, FILIAL PIETY TOWARDS PARENTS IS A WAY TO ACCUMULATE MERITS*

Caller: Master, I noticed that people who are particularly filial would receive lots of blessings from Bodhisattvas.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Of course, and it comes with meritorious rewards as well. On the other hand, many people are lacked of merits nowadays because they are not being filial enough to their parents.

Caller: Actually filial piety is a way to accumulate merits for ourselves.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Exactly! Think about it, even if your parents are here to repay karmic debts owing to you, but if you do not claim them, you will in turn accrue merits for yourself. Conversely, if you owe them karmic debts and you repay them with your blessings, aren’t you repaying your debts? Regardless of the perspective, they are both favourable. As long as you are filial to your parents, be it repaying karmic debts or refusal in claiming karmic debts from them, you will be blessed!

*WHAT ARE THE MIRACLES THAT COULD OCCUR WITH CULTIVATION?*

Master Jun Hong Lu, “What are the miracles that could occur with cultivation? Let me teach you a method: accumulate your virtues in dribs and drabs. It is through battling every single adversity and vexation that we are able acquire the ability and experience needed to gain control over our inner self. That is accummulation of virtues.”
