OSV is just a generic name. We should understand that Penguin's crewboat is not just for ferrying of crews, it can also be used to carry supplies or even to fight fire/pirates etc. It is quite versatile. Penguin name its bigger boat (those 50 meters and above) FSIV, but in essence, they are all OSV.
May be my interpretation is wrong.
OSV (Offshore Support Vessels) is a generic name for safety standby vessels (SSV), anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels etc, which specifically supporting offshore oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) and oil services industries.
Nam Cheong building OSVs, but Penguin don't, IMO. Base on your reply, Penguin doesn't support only offshore E&P customers, but also others customers, right?
Anyway, The most important point is Penguin doesn't depend ONLY on E&P business, but I am still trying to figure out the distribution.

I guess what we should always bear in mind is that Penguin's boats are made of aluminium alloy (instead of steel) therefore are much lighter. As a direct result, the boats can run much faster on the same engine capacity, and therefore also cheaper to run based on fuel consumption/distance efficiency measurement. Maintenance cost is likely lower as aluminium alloy does not rust and is more resistant to corrosion.
Penguin's industry standard Flex-40 crewboats are run by a very small crew and typically can carry 78 to 90 passengers in great comfort, plus a good 60MT of palletised cargoes. Because the boats are fast and cheaper to run, I suppose charterers and fleet operators are driven to buy/own or lease and operate such boats mainly because of their great economics, as well as the much lower upfront investment cost per boat.
Of course, we should also bear in mind that Penguin's boats have proven to be flexible enough to play other and multi- roles, e.g. fire fighting, coastal patrol, stand-by vessel, etc.
In the shipbuilding industry, is there anything you can do to stop competitors from copying your designs? For example, can the design be patented?
Received my $0.005/share FY13 Final dividend yesterday. Feeling great!
Based on today's (29May14) closing share price of $0.245, including the $0.005 dividend received, the one-year return for those who have held on to their Penguin shares since 31May13 (closing share price: $0.081) is an amazing 208.6%!…..
