Hi admin

you have mentioned this previously

"I encourage opinions/views with supporting numbers, if feasible, otherwise it may just casual statements, which doesn't benefit anyone, even the opinions/views are right at the end of the day.

Sino probably the most controversial stock, not only in VB, but in most investing forums. Big Grin

it is not nice to be accused of ganging up to influence public opinion so please ensure that forumers stick to it.

thanks

I personally think there is too much focus on the IPO of Garden Fresh (GF) for Sino Grandness (SG) currently that is driving up its share price. This is both good as well as carries a certain amount of risk. I think one should look beyond short term which just focuses on the IPO. Unless one is making a short term bet on SG, then the current publicity on the IPO of GF is surely a catalyst for SG's increase in its share price no matter how one makes his analysis/judgement whether by fundamental analysis or just based on speculative sentiment of this whole IPO's positive impact on SG.

If one is looking to be invested longer term with SG, perhaps a longer term outlook might be better on whether this IPO of GF will indeed help SG in its businesses going ahead. We shall have to see SG how it performs in its business growth and expansion going forward beyond this IPO of GF. Hope that the management can be prudent in future on its expansion growth as its past failure to fulfill its CB obligations on time is a great lesson to be learnt.

It is great to have ambitious visions and plans but prudence and integrity are equally important qualities of good management.

An example of his work on a singapore company. quite impressive for an international
BDM thanks for highlighting this blog.

off topic but from the SSC and CSF articles you can pretty much tell this fellow is LOCAL, not international. E.g. In CSF article he uses first, second, third, in SSC article note his use of "also" and "earning" and a few other simple grammatical mistakes as well as some phrases he uses which are quite telling, PM me if you wanna know more details Big Grin His portfolio composition might make it look like he is "international"

Otherwise kudos for showing his portfolio but you can see his does quite a lot of trading vs. value investing.

Oldman9 : You and crubs have only been posting on this thread and HAVE NOT BEEN contributing to any other threads at all since joining VB forum for almost a whole YEAR now (if you click on your own thread and look at your post history its pretty obvious). Pardon my suspicion on this kind of highly unusual posting behaviour, it doesnt break any forum rules but it does make it look like the only interest of posting is for SG thread.

Are you guys even vested in SG? and if you are vested, are you ONLY vested in SG counter on the SGX? Care to share?

Just pointing out some obvious observations.

-not vested-

What's wrong with writing on Sino Grandness thread only ? This is a company I'm very familiar with and I believe that discussing what I know well will increase the quality and level of discussion. I am vested, that's all you need to know.

What's the point of going to every single thread and making superficial, unsubstantiated comments/judgements in the hopes of appearing knowledgeable ?

Shareholders have been pessimistic on SG since Newman9's deceptive report surfaced and share price has been gloomy since then. The recovery of the share price is not fully due to the IPO but also the shareholders are now more convinced on SG's genuine business.  Smile
"you may have won the battle but lost the war"  - i hope all forum members will ultimately win the war (ie make money from this stock)

Focus on the positives and negatives to assess the risks before you plunge.

I have followed this stock since its IPO, entered in and out for a few times.  Win some and lose some.

A few years back, as the fresh juice business gained traction, I have identified this company as an interesting consumer play and potential multi-bagger.  The only down side is the aggressive growth in its early product life cycle means that the company has to invest its cash heavily in capital expenditure in fixed assets and marketing costs to create brand awareness.   Either you grow aggressively and be the number one player or you get sideline into number 2 and then you are gone.

I am vested long in the company a few years ago and recently i doubled my holding in the past 6 months as the price offers great value in my view.  Why i like this kind of stocks?
-  consumer stock is less susceptible to wild swing in revenue as compare to cyclical stock(such as electronics, property and oil & gas);
-  if A&P is executed right, the company's product will move from a merely commodity-based into a great brand;
-  when the early high growth life cycle starts tapering, you will start to see this engine becoming a cashcow as its slow down its capex spending (example ;- see QAF)
-  lastly, china consumer play! - i guess no further need to explain this

I have held on to QAF, another similar consumer stock, for 6 years and enjoy a good 5 baggers return with great dividend yield.  I am holding even tighter to this stock, as i think the imminent IPO should provide another impetus to drive the next phase of growth for the company.   No risk no gain.  Caveat emptor.

Thanks Stirling for your contribution. I agree with you especially on the points about capex and branding. Many people fail to understand that huge investments are needed in capex and branding especially in the early stages if the company wants to succeed in the long run.

Hi Bluekelah

Yes my major holding is in this gem. That  is why I post here most of the time. Anything wrong with that?
I joined VB because of the substance  I find in Sino G thread. I have an account at  SJ forum but do not post there.

Is it a must that I contribute in other threads? I did not know that. Admin, what do you say? [deleted]

cheers

Nay sayers all wrong so far. Look like market is convinced that IPO will be taking place. Whenever price softening there will be big buys mopping up the shares. Will the next milestone of IPO come quicker than expected?
