Big deal here lies in the fact that it took a bunch of foreigners to disrupt the peace in Singapore's industrial relations.
The chinese guys highlighted the fact that $ is not enough and how foreign labour can pose a threat to Singapore's social and economic development.
Relative to opening of floodgates to foreign workers pre-2007, Singapore is now very dependent on foreign workers for its long term survival. So until we resolve this thorny issue, it is going to remain a long term worry.

SINGAPORE - The final SMRT bus driver who is facing prosecution for his involvement in an illegal strike last week has pleaded guilty in court this morning to commencing an illegal strike sometime between 6am and 7am on November 26.
A solemn looking and bespectacled Bao Feng Shan, 38, who was not represented, had his charge read out to him in Mandarin through a court interpreter.
Saying that a deterrent sentence is warranted because of the "considerable public disquiet" caused by the strike, Deputy Public Prosecutor Peggy Pao-Keerthi asked Senior District Judge See Kee Oon to impose a
6 week imprisonment sentence.

Maybe good for him. Got free food and lodging. Most important, i believe his stay there is better than his stay at his Woodlands/Serangoon dormitory.
