They are using this as a bait to lure big buyers, which I believe has been successful.
I thought the management should spend the time managing the business...rather than trying to lure big buyers...
Not sure if getting big buyers is one of their core competencies....
IMO i think they shld sell half of the kim chuan development cash in some n redevelop genting lane, cum buy another plot of industrial land n redeveloped it... sometimes u need to be a bit more agressive.. u see koh bros used to be construction then venture to be a developer.. so there is a way out.. maybe can ask paul to go agm kbkb..

But base on my understanding they will most likely wait till kim chuan redeveloped b4 doing other things, conservative.
maybe that's what the dividend is for.

to keep shareholders pacified during the waiting.
cosmo steel cheong will it lead hupsteel up with the tide. anw 235 starts to stag buyer... 1 week up 1 tick haha
Ah lim slowly scooping back his shares. Recent days in 100lots, today 200lots 23c. So long as the price remains depressed by weak earnings, I reckon ah lim will continue his buying spree as he is clearer of the fundamental value of his shares than anyone else, in the hope that one day the business will hit a bright spot together with earnings from completion of 6kim chuan in 18months.
As expected by paullow, CEO Lim Kim Thor scooped up a further of 230 lots @ 23c today.
There buy back is not a personal purchase but bought as company share buy back. I should think there's a distinction between the two.
yes. of cos.
for 3rd gen traditional co, with so many parties with vested interest in the company, it is probably the most straightforward way to proceed if the management thinks it is worthwhile to do a sharebuy back. imagine if lim kt or lim pk buy in their personal capacity, thr other family members wld probably not think well of their intention.
anyway anycase ceo lim must have had a hand in these share buyback.
thats the dilemma of a company which have survived 3generations.
take a look at yhs. the forefathers created a union vehicle to hold the fanily together. in end, family discord took the upperhand and this vehicle broke down.
You've got a point here looking at the no of Lim's in the board and in the substantial shareholders list.

I suspect some property development will take place this year based on 2012 AR. Waiting any longer will not only make the mgmt looks indecisive but resulting in them missing the boat altogether.

"We had reported last year that the Group would be reviewing the various options available on its
portfolio of industrial properties. The Group hopes to finalise plans for the development of some of
these properties and relevant announcements will be made when ready and in due course."
