oh! that sounds like a bigger than tiny shift in direction... could be a meaningful impact.
This stock came to my attention when somebody posts it in another forum. I never know it exists. That time, I was surprised that there is such a good stock available. Unfortunately, shortly after that, ST Eng announce a takeover and I decided to let it go out of my watchlist. It is great that now it is back. Looking at the fundamentals, the stock has been paying increasing dividends (one plus point). Looking at some of the posts over here, can I confirm that they would not be giving any dividends for the last FY because the takeover has been voted down? Huge queue of 2000 buy lot at 0.4. At this price, the dividend yield based on FY10 is 10%. Wow....:p but if there is no dividend for the last FY, I believe the price would drop.

Yes. The company did not pay a dividend for last FY because of the Scheme.
Earlier when ST Engr announced the Neratel acquisition, as a ST Engr shareholder i start looking into Neratel, and pleased to find its financials is very good. Thus secretly i hoping ST Engr can wallop up this gem.

After the deal failed, disappointed but think of another way, it also provide the opportunity to invest directly into Neratel, probably i should do that :p

For those who want to invest into telecom but reluctant to park money on to a monster company. This small cap probably is not a bad choice.
Hi All

I tabulated out the total contract received by neratel in past 5 years from www.sgx.com.

Year Total Contract (miL)
2012 58.4 (as of today)
2011 51.1
2010 81.7
2009 34.8
2008 89.4
2007 84.8

Anyway to know how they recognize the contract value?

From AR2011 (Pg 51),

2.16 Contract work-in-progress

Contract work-in-progress is stated at the aggregate of contract costs incurred to date plus profit recognised based on the value of work completed less progress billings and provisions for foreseeable losses.

Cost includes both variable and fixed costs directly related to specific contracts and those which can be attributed to contract activity in general and which can be allocated to specific contracts. Also included are any costs expected to be incurred under penalty clauses and rectification provisions.

The percentage of completion is measured by reference to the cost incurred to date as a percentage of total estimated cost for each contract which approximates the progress billings that match the billing milestones as indicated in the contract, to the total contract sum.

Where it is probable that a loss will arise on completion of contracts entered into at the balance sheet date, the excess of total estimated costs over expected revenue is recognised as an expense mmediately.

Pg 67 gives the computation for the figures used in the Balance Sheet under Current Assets.

Half year result Net Profit margin is 11.5% Vs Average 7% in past 5 years. The figure looks good but their Free Cash Flow decrease as compare to last year.....hope more good news to come in 2nd half.
