Positive report by Lim & Tan from remisiers.org. But do take note the point in red..

Nera Tel one of our top picks in the mid-cap space retested its 2013 high yesterday at 69 cents before closing at 67.5 cents on a higher than average 3mln shares traded.

The stock has risen 9% in 2 days on optimism that its customers Norway’s Telenor and Ooredoo (formerly known as Qatar Telecom), the recently announced winners of one of 2 telecom license in Myanmar means increased business opportunities for the company.

According to Nera’s management, while they have supplied Telenor and Ooredoo in the past, they would still have to go through official bidding processes.

But both Telenor and Ooredoo have 9 months from Sept’13 to start operations and they are targeting to cover 75% of Myanmar with voice services and 50% with data services within the next 5 years. Ooredoo is targeting to spend US$15bln to reach 90% of Myanmar’s population within 2 years.

This suggests that they will need a lot of support from their existing supplier base such as Nera Tel.

Nera has already began deploying payment solution terminals for the biggest banks operating in Myanmar and their prior experience with operating in frontier economies such as Afganistan and Pakistan would also help them set up operation in Myanmar.

The above suggests continued potential robust order wins ahead.

While the stock has done well, being one of the few to be retesting its 2013 highs, we continue to like it as its yield of 6% and forward PE of 10x against growth of 20% remains attractive.

Congratulation. It seems likely a two-baggar. I am wrong by not "tikam" on it. Tongue

Too early to say, if the Myanmar thing comes through, it could be big.

All in all a solid company, with strong balance sheet and good growth prospect (its MENA expansion), with or without the Myanmar deal.

(Vested)
Hey! I was looking at this thread again from page 1 and guess what? Today marks a 1-year anniversary when the STE Scheme Offer failed and prices dropped to ~40ct on the first trading day....

Looking back, I'm glad I acted busy body and posted a reply on pg1. Back then, I had never heard of Neratel..... The only reason I got interested was my being vested in STEng and they were the one making the Scheme Offer. Subsequently, I continued to on and off follow the thread and was amazed at the glowing remarks on Neratel by those who are vested.

So, when the Scheme Offer failed, I remembered scrambling to gather more data... what 'yeokiwi' mentioned as quick-hand-quick-leg. This is where I'm glad and grateful at the many responses I got when I posted and was able to form a good enough picture to make a decision to get vested... I cautiously increased my stake (actually quite aggressively...) as I accumulated more and more info and got a better understanding through the many kind responses...

There were other important milestones - the declarations of the 4ct interim dividend, another Offer by Indonesian interests,... but nothing beats the experience of 9-Jul-12... That was a key defining moment for me and the inspiration for my signature,

Luck & Fortune Favours those who are Prepared & Decisive when Opportunity Knocks

Prior to Neratel, I tend to take a lot more time to gather info before I make any decision for any new stocks. Can be weeks or even months.... Other subsequent notable stock related events of being quick-hand-quick-leg, but on a smaller scale would be Kingsmen (CAD case) and F&N (Removed from Index),...

Life has never been the same since...Cool
