SIA flight catches fire while making emergency landing in Singapore

SINGAPORE: A Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight to Milan caught fire early Monday morning (Jun 27) while making an emergency landing in Singapore, but all passengers on board escaped unharmed.

Flight SQ368 departed Changi Airport for Milan at 2.05am on Monday. The flight was forced to turn back to Singapore after an engine oil warning message, SIA said in a statement.

The plane's right engine caught fire after the aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER, touched down at the airport at around 6.50am, SIA said. Firefighters put out the fire and there were no injuries to the 222 passengers and 19 crew on board.
Changi Airport also issued a statement saying that the fire was extinguished "within minutes" by the Airport Emergency Service team, which was already on standby.

  JanQuin Portfolio
Posted by: JanQuin - 23-06-2016, 10:39 AM - Forum: Others - Replies (16)

I have been following this forum since 2013 and have learned much from various forummers. Last year, I decided to be more active in writing my investment blog but fast forward to June 2016, I have yet to keep up to it. Making another push for it now and will use this platform to share my portfolio as an impetus to become more active in posting and sharing on both my blog and this forum.

Base on my review last year, I am following this guide in terms of portfolio allocation.

  • 60% of the portfolio will be invested in companies that regularly hand out dividend and provides a yield of about 5%.  REITs will form part of this 60% but no more than 40% of the entire portfolio.
  • 40% of the portfolio will be invested in growth companies with consistent ROE of at least 10% or positive growth prospect. Out of this, no more than 10% will be used for punting on potential story.
As of today, these are the companies in my portfolio. Some details on buying and selling decisions can be found at my blog at https://mrtfi2024.blogspot.sg/

REIT (39.8%)
Parkway Life REIT
Starhill Global REIT
Capital Retail China Trust
CDL Hospitality Trust
Fraser Centrepoint Trust

Dividend Stocks (17.3%)
SGX
ST Engineering
Vicom

Growth Stocks (31.2%)
Straco
Best World
Raffles Medical
Food Empire

Punt (8.1%)
Valuetronics
Sunningdale Tech
Cityneon

Anybody has registered for the SMS 2FA ? Hope someone can help me out here:
I already have a token, do I still need to register for SMS 2FA?
If I register for SMS 2FA will my token be disabled?
If both SMS and Token are enabled, how do I choose which to use? Upon login, do I have a choice to select?

The Assurity helpdesk is terrible, seems to be permanently on hold after endless menu. Email queries also took more than a week to reply.

Thanks!

Solar-powered water purifier also produces electricity, Wi-Fi
Posted by: CityFarmer - 25-04-2016, 09:06 AM - Forum: Others - Replies (1)

An interesting innovation...

Solar-powered water purifier also produces electricity, Wi-Fi

LONDON — Imagine a machine that can turn contaminated water from a river, ocean or even sewage into drinking water, while at the same time generating enough electricity to power itself with surplus, and connecting everywhere within a 1km radius to Wi-Fi.

It sounds too good to be true, but 44-year-old Italian Marco Attisani has created just that.

Watly is a solar-powered water purification machine that can service a community of up to 3,000 people.

The project is designed to solve three major weaknesses in infrastructure all at once: Access to water, electricity and Internet. Across the world, 783 million people do not have access to clean water, 1.2 billion lack access to electricity, and 4.2 billion are still without Internet access.
