Does this means that Starhub is subsidizing their customers to watch soccer? Good news for Singtel as they still be collecting $59.90, and bad news for Starhub as they will only collect $17.37?

It is a win-win situation for the telcos as long as the customer foots the bill.
Frankly, the situation here is you either pay to the left hand or the right hand.

Best for investors is to be vested in the left, right and center or the "middle one", (M1)

Singtel needs to pay cross-carriage fees to Starhub.

so how much does starhub makes from BPL?? anyone knows?

since its a big lose to consumers, singtel and starhub should gain???

Oh, dunno there such a cross platform fee. Tried searching the internet, but unable to find out more info about it.

It sounds so funny that Singtel need to pay Starhub, so that Starhub's customers can watch Singtel's programs. Isn't that on normal business ground, it supposed to be Starhub paying Singtel so that their customers can watch the same program, and Starhub can charge the price they want to the customers?

So... Who set the fees amount? Starhub? Singtel? MDA?

The same thing already happened for Euro 2012. Starhub got the rights back then. But they paid Singtel a cross-carriage fee for showing the matches on miotv.

If viewers are getting frustrated about this latest shenanigans about BPL, wait till they see more "carrot-head chopping" action for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

The World Cup 2010 package was $94.16

I am sure next year's package will be over $100.....

The reason why the world cup was charged so much to Singapore is because they peg it to how much each country paid per capita for their BPL rights. So the root cause was the excess bidding Singtel did for the BPL rights.

My view is that the recent MDA cross-carriage rule has hurt Singtel in its quest to corner Singapore's TV market and it is likely that starhub welcomes the move as it has a firm footing in this industry since it was the first mover
