20140314中国好歌曲 赵照感人吟唱《当你老了》夺高分
20140131中国好歌曲 《当你老了》赵照
The lyrics:

It is adapted from William Butler Yeats
When You Are Old
By William Butler Yeats
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

Factors to consider when investing in property
Posted by: strongman93 - 07-05-2015, 06:39 PM - Forum: Others - Replies (4)

Property investing involves a relatively favorable risk/reward profile, but with relatively low liquidity (leverage with loan).
Careful planning and consideration will give the investor a very lucrative return.

So what are the factors to consider when invest in property?
Location, developer, future potential, capital appreciation, rental

New international schools for Singapore as expat population surges
Posted by: strongman93 - 01-05-2015, 08:34 PM - Forum: Others - Replies (4)

More international schools are planned for Singapore as it plans for a huge influx of new expats over the next 15 years.

While it is relatively straightforward to secure a place for a child at an international school at present, the 5.6 million population of the city state is projected to grow 30 per cent by 2030. Much of this growth will come from immigration which, the government says, is needed to help offset a slowing birth rate and ageing population.

Therefore the economic development board, which controls all land that can be zoned for international school use, is to release new sites with 30-year leases. It has asked existing international schools – and parties who may be interested in opening a new one – to notify them of their interest.

BMW revives old-school goggles with a twist

More and more interesting features of a car...Big Grin

BMW revives old-school goggles with a twist

SHANGHAI — Car drivers stopped wearing goggles almost a century ago. Now, BMW is bringing them back.

The German automaker’s Mini unit will be showing off a system that is a throwback in looks and a step forward in technology to give drivers a better all-round view of what goes on outside their car. The Mini Augmented Vision, to be demonstrated this week at the Shanghai Auto Show, feeds motorists information while their eyes remain fixed on the road.

Using augmented reality, the headset projects warnings, speeds and directions onto the lens in front of a driver’s eyes. While that is not much more than an adaption of the increasingly common heads-up display technology already offered in the Mini, the device’s more advanced trick is to provide feeds from cameras mounted on the outside of the car.

That means the driver can see a display of blind spots usually obscured by the vehicle’s body. So, for example, glancing over to the right allows you to see an image of the area outside the car’s passenger side and the curb to make parking easier. The goggles are controlled with buttons on the steering wheel.

IDA Probes Claim About Employee's 'Fake' MBA
Posted by: Stocker - 21-04-2015, 06:00 PM - Forum: Others - Replies (8)

21/04/2015 By FENG ZENGKUN

The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) is investigating a claim that one of its employees possesses a fake master's degree.

In a Facebook note yesterday, IDA said it is continuing to look into the case of Nisha Padmanabhan, who joined the agency last year with a master's degree from Southern Pacific University, which is based online.

The university has been alleged to be a "degree mill" - an institution selling non-accredited educational credentials or diplomas for a fee - and was closed in the United States by a court order. It is now apparently operating in Malaysia.

IDA has been criticised online, after a netizen accused it earlier this month of hiring Ms Padmanabhan despite her alleged phoney qualification.

Last week, IDA responded on its Facebook page by saying that Ms Padmanabhan, a Singapore citizen, had received a bachelor's degree from "a reputable university".

According to her LinkedIn page, she has a bachelor's in electronics and telecommunication from the University of Mumbai in India, and worked for nearly 14 years in various firms before joining IDA.

"She was recruited because of this bachelor's degree, extensive past work experience and good track record," IDA said.

"Nisha pursued an MBA (the master's degree) out of personal interest, and it was not a relevant certificate for her position in IDA, though she was open about the fact that she had obtained it."

In fact, 93 per cent of IDA staff hired at the level of applications consultant were hired because of their bachelor's degree.

The criticism against IDA continued, however, with several people hijacking its Facebook posts on other subjects to comment on Ms Padmanabhan's hiring and the agency's handling of the case.

In its latest Facebook post on the matter yesterday, IDA said: "We understand your sentiments and concerns, and we are continuing to look into the matter."

It also asked people who have comments to share them on the post, or e-mail them to info@ida.gov.sg

It added that it would moderate comments more actively on the rest of its Facebook posts, so that the discussion would remain civil and constructive. It said it does not generally remove comments, but reserves the right to remove those that contain vulgarities, are personal attacks against individuals or are deemed inappropriate.

Temasek’s succession in spotlight as Ho takes three-month leave

Successful succession is never an easy task, even within SME. It is a valid concern...

Temasek’s succession in spotlight as Ho takes three-month leave

SINGAPORE (April 20): Temasek Holdings Chief Executive Officer Ho Ching’s three-month sabbatical raises the question that’s been asked repeatedly in the past six years: who will steer Singapore’s investment mothership when she eventually leaves?

Ho, 62, said last week she’s taking time off to attend to “a couple of long-standing things” and catch up on sleep, while assuring the public she’s “well”.

The leave follows two months during which her husband, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, was operated on for prostate cancer, and his father, Lee Kuan Yew, the nation’s first premier, died at 91.

Temasek, Singapore’s state-owned investment company, is trying to avoid the 2009 debacle when it appointed BHP Billiton head Charles “Chip” Goodyear as CEO designate to replace Ho, said Victoria Barbary, director at the London-based Institutional Investor’s Sovereign Wealth Centre.

Goodyear left within months over differing views on strategy.

“The Chip Goodyear situation is not going to happen again,” Barbary said. “A successor won’t be a Westerner parachuted in. The person might not be in Temasek now. But it will be a person from the wider world of Singapore Inc”

The new CEO should “ideally” be Singaporean, Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said in August 2009, adding that Goodyear’s exit was “a dent in the reputation” and “a very visible dent in the fender” of Temasek.

Palm-sized projector with enough juice to screen movies

Palm-sized projector with enough juice to screen movies

SINGAPORE — Through our years in school, we’ve learnt this: Projectors whir louder than ceiling fans, are temperamental and out of reach (they often require a chair, the tallest student in class and the added help of a ruler to get to). The new Canon Rayo R4 mini-projector has thrown these perceptions out the window.

Its required set-up is as complicated as attaching one cable — from projector to device. Held snug in the palm, we turned on the 169g projector, which is no bigger than an external hard drive, and the machine started to cast a rectangular stream of white light at a conservative 50 lumens (a normal projector lets out light with at least a thousand lumens).

In less than three seconds, the image on our phone duplicated itself on the wall.

As foolproof as described, the portable projector’s set-up can be done in under a minute. The whole time, I could barely hear a whir. Canon Singapore said the internal fan lets out only a 59-decibel-milliwatt drone.
