i suppose that is an opportunity for the company that could become a prevalent culture isnt it.

I ask my friends who often shop online and used to be a customer of vpost. He shared horrible stories about speedpost. He told me a friend bought a antique watch for few thousands, speedpost advise he buy insurance for that parcel. His friend agreed, but the watch arrived smashed. When he wanted to claim, singpost denied all responsibility. For a number of years in their AR, they claim customer satisfaction has improved from survey collected. How accurate is their surveys. I have no comments. Well, guess if u take away logistic as a major growth driver, singpost is still attractive in other ways. I have misgivings about their logistic segment too.

Vpost's service is quite poor seriously. I often shop at online stores in the US and i rank Vpost to be the worst provider as compared to Comgateway and Borderlinx which are Vpost's competitors due to the following reasons,

1. Delivery time
Comgateway and Borderlinx are using DHL to deliver and it usually takes 3-4 working days for the parcel to reach my address once the parcel is delivered to their US address.
As compared to Vpost, it requires around 8 working days! Terrible!

2. Price
The 3 providers are quite similiar and it is rather obvious which one customers will choose.

3. Tracking system
Vpost's tracking system can't match up to Comgateway and Borderlinx. For e.g. Comgateway/Borderlinx will state that the parcel is travelling from Oregon --> Hong Kong customs --> Singapore customs --> Singapore's logistics office etc. While Vpost does not go into such detailed stuff.

4. Online reviews
Do a simple online search and you can see how people prefer Borderlinx/Comgateway to Vpost
OCBC has a very interesting call on Singpost regarding its property portfolio. Anyone has any comment on it?

One of the reason to invest into SingPost is the re-development of SingPost Center. This is not main reason, but a great bonus when it occur

I had walked around SingPost Center, it is under-developed (Under-utilized the space). The surrounding area is being developed. I am yet to find out the property next to MRT, it may increase the valuation of the SingPost Center.

Base on last AGM, the management does not seem pay too much attention on property development, but on the re-engineering of the process for the mail and logistic biz. So IMO, nothing will happen in the near future.
selling that SPC will reduce profit by 1/4 apparently. A smaller dividend? Singpost payout ratio is around 73% current

is it really speedpost? vpost is going down. but i really like that if they polish up and make their parcel post competitive. the replacement of mail is the future of home retailing.

"SingPost could spin off some assets: OCBC report

WITH property listings gathering pace in Singapore, it could be an opportune time for Singapore Post (SingPost) to spin off some of its post office assets, OCBC Investment Research said.
SingPost has a property portfolio, consisting of 16 potentially saleable post offices, that may bring in substantial cash when unlocked, OCBC said. It has a "buy" rating and a target price of $1.14 on the company."

OCBC issued this report last Friday, 24 Aug. So I think the action today could be due to some other news, if any.
