Expectation on postman is rising, but postage rate still the same. It seems similar situation as in public transport service, except that there are choices for postman service i.e. other courier service providers, but cost more...Big Grin

Postman delivers poorer customer satisfaction

SINGAPORE — Local residents appeared less satisfied with postal services compared to a year ago, according to the latest results from the Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore (CSISG). Customer satisfaction fell 6.9 per cent year-on-year for postal services, which recorded the largest fall among 12 sub-sectors.

These findings followed complaint letters in the past two months from customers over poor delivery services, and a S$10,000 fine slapped on SingPost by the Infocomm Development Authority last month for failing to deliver 40,000 letters on time in February.

In response to the drop in customer satisfaction, SingPost pointed out that the survey was conducted when Singapore witnessed its worst haze episode, as it took “proactive measures to safeguard” the health of its outdoor staff, especially the postal officers. “These included reduced outdoor delivery hours to minimise exposure ... These measures, which were critical to the health and welfare of our staff, did result in some disruption and backlog,” SingPost said.

It also recognised rising public expectations because of the changing mail profile, which sees more packages and fewer letters. Its service standards require packages to be delivered between three and five days — unlike faster services offered by courier companies, which also charge more, said SingPost.

The survey, conducted by the Institute of Service Excellence (ISES) at the Singapore Management University (SMU), polled 250 local residents on postal services between May and July.

Perhaps postage cost may be revised soon since the operational cost such as labour has gone up.

The last revision was around 2006/2007, so probably a high time to propose a revision now.

How is Singapore postage cost compare with other countries like Hong Kong? Anyone know?
This might be a solution for future package delivery of SingPost. Anyone has tried it?

SingPost to add 10 more PopStations next month

Singapore Post will be adding 10 more PopStations island-wide next month.

PopStations or Pick your Own Parcel Station allow customers to collect parcels from automated lockers nearest to their homes.

Five of these stations are already in operation and SingPost expects to roll out 100 by 2014.

The free service has been available since March to select users of its vPost service, which helps online shoppers buy items from overseas.

When a parcel is ready for collection, customers will get an e-mail or text message with a code. Users just need to go to the PopStation they had selected, scan the code and a locker containing their package will pop open.

I see that Singapore Post confirm their acquisiton of EK Media for S$1.2mil.

So does this mean they're purchasing an external unit to focus on their online sales/promotions?
There is a cover story on SingPost, in the Nov 17 issue of The Edge.

The article has given a detail description on the new business model, which links all the recent acquisition. The shop.adidas.com.sg is new to me. Did SingPost do a promotion on the site?

Qn: why did Singpost flop on pawnbroking?

I observe from parcels at Post Offices, a lot of people ordered stuff online overseas. And Singpost may be a indirect bene.
Was Singpost ever in pawnbroking? Maybe it simply wrong timing. Now then is pawnbroking time. They should start it again.

I do agree that alot of people are ordering stuff from overseas. Their presentation also indicated that this is a growth area for them.
