Any proof that holding STI ETF or MSCI is better way compared to holding growth shares for 10-15 years ?

Here is a more recent article on financial literacy :

http://www.straitstimes.com/business/inv...ia-pacific

I noticed the singaporean respondents to the survey expected to require savings of S$968,000 to fund their retirement life. Based on say a 5% annual return on $968,000 invested in shares , it amounts to $1000 approx per week to spend in retirement. Must be wishful thinking.???
