Another school of thought I have. From 0.8 to 1, u need to jump 40 bids, from 0.4 to 0.5(equivalent to $1) u need to jump just 20 bids, of cos there will be more sellers, but maybe there will be more buyers for 0.4 counters?

Any views on this?

Hello Privi,

It is good to have a fellow Q&M fan contribute to this humble thread!

But I don't see that the point you are making will help the share price. Q&M is a fairly liquid counter - I understand many dentists trade it regularly and there have been several days recently where over 1 Million shares were traded. So I do not see the "clicks" argument from a shareholder value-creation perspective.

You say there could be more buyers for S$ 0.4 priced shares - there could be more sellers to.

And the Dentists I know are somewhat far from destitute so they are not worried about the cost/price of a single lot. They usually trade in tens or hundreds of lots!!

i have always been wondering what competitive advantage Q&M has over other dental companies.

Personally, i go for convenience, a dental clinic near my house. Second, to pay for the dental service as cheap as possible.

If i am a PRC in china, i believe i would think similarly, i wont specially go visit a Q&M clinic just because it has a Singapore branding (in fact, it would be surprising if people associate dental services with a brand).

Attaching a PER of above 25 or even 30 for a high growth company is reasonable if the profit margins are fat and sustainable. Now, that's the scary part. Most dentists are sole proprietors. If dentists can make so much money, why wont the dentists in china set up their own companies and make all the big money? why should they work for Q&M?

I have also criticised healthway in a similar manner. Dont get me wrong, i have nothing against the doctors and dentists, i think the doctors and dentists are providing a useful service to fellow humans and i appreciate the doctors who saved my life when i was almost dying at the age of 15. However, from the perspective of a value investor, i would say that such listed companies (i.e. healthway, Q&M that offers no specialised services) benefit the doctors and dentists in a great proportion than they benefit shareholders.

Dont see any value in Healthway or Q & M at about PER of 45. Raffles Med has lower PER than Healthway. Chatter in other forums lump this counter with out speculative penny stocks which rocketing last 2 whs lol. As for Q & M , may be able to get some pocket money after share split, but depends on the market mood on that day. After that, back to sq one.

Last quarter, Q&M made 1m. The company is valued at around 200m today. Well done, may you grow prosperously in china in time to come.

Interestingly, management did a stock split, probably in the hope that the shares can rise to 0.7 range again

Interesting to see that Q&M's share price rose 10% (ten percent) today - in huge volume (by Q&M standards) - 6.1 Million shares traded during today's SGX session. This in an overall declining market.

Does anyone amongst the handfull of those forummers vested in Q&M understand the driver for this sudden share price increase? (I realise I'm in the minority of forummers who actually like the prospects for this company!). I haven't seen any Q&M announcement or news to suggest there are obvious drivers for today's share price performance. And I don't believe the recent stock-split has anything to do with it - I personally believe that was nothing more than a gimmick.

Q&M now trading on a mid-forties P/E.

Vested.

What the Q&M CEO never discusses is if it so profitable, then there will be strong competition, how are they going to make money when every tom, dick and harry want a share of the pie.

If naive investors will readily pay a rich valuation of 40x, they have to be patient enough to wait at least 10 years before money flows into their pockets, assuming the growth can be maintained. In high likelihood, investors will be disappointed
