Ah, then what I can say is - I hope I have the aptitude, I usually miss the timing and so far I don't have much luck! Tongue Tongue

Ha! Ha!
Everything being equal, 大 胆 包 天, 不 知 死 活 also counts. i have done it at least more than once if not more than thrice. Whew!
i still survive.
Shalom.
Amen.
NB: The "secret" of Timing the market is after it happens not before. If your Timing is about 60% correct, you should be alright. The rest depend on what stocks you buy. IMO.

大 胆 包 天, 不 知 死 活 - for me is if i lose i am much poorer but won't die and will survive, OK.
Now of course, i am investing differently because we are in our "de-accumulating phase". As long as me & wife expire before my capital/assets and hopefully leave behind some for my only son, it will be perfect. It is terrible for his generation having to pay a housing mortgage for 25 to 30 years just to own a 99-year "public housing". This is definitely modern slavery to me imposed by the Power that be.

A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

I recalled one statement, saying the real meaning of "invincible man" (or i interpret as successful man)

Invincible (successful) man is not those never lose or fail, but those have never say die attitude, keep trying after failures.

IMO, attitude should be the prime important for success, of course, luck and timing help to ease the path.

i think aptitude and financial capacity tolerance is the most important. If you can not stomach your stock portfolio losing 30 to 50 % during a "Black Swan Bear Market" and do not have the financial capacity to ride through this period, then all bets are off. i thank GOD i do it this way from day one. "Black Swan Bear Market" - 大 胆 包 天, 不 知 死 活。 i do assets allocation much, much, later.
Shalom.
Amen.

NB:1st Time In The market:-

30 to 50 % during a "Black Swan Bear Market" was forced on me even after i bought during a so called Bear market. This is why Timing the market is so difficult. From here onwards, no more surprise when "Black Swan Bear Market" happens again. Only try my best to sell as much as possible when the market seems to be a Bull's - Don't care as long as i make some money even if i missed the Super Bull charges. If a "Black Swan Bear" can appear anytime, it will.

留 得 青 山 在, 不 怕没 柴 烧, is my policy.
Nevertheless, i missed many 3 to 5 baggers with my policy. But then i also missed many Bear Hugs. As long as i make money i don't care.
IMO only.

I walked by a shop last week while doing marketing with my wife and the following words written on a blackboard in the shop caught my attention:

心好命也好,富贵直到老。
命好心不好,福转为祸兆。
心好命不好,祸转为福报。
心命具不好,遭殃且贫夭。

I believe......

Ah Yes!
At the end of the day, you cannot bring a single thing with you and you really don't need to (Christian's belief).
It's more blessed to give than to receive. The reason is obvious.
That's why i don't really understand the People in Power in Singapore. Why do they want to accumulate so much for what? For their next generation & next generation at the expanse of the mass population?
But how long can they do it before the mass population realised it's high time to change "Dynasty" for better or for worse.

To give is indeed more blessed than to always ask to be given.

Personally, i feel one has to be contented if you want to be happy. How much is enough? It is never enough if you are never contented.

I'm contented to have a job, 3 meals and a roof over my head. And i am grateful not having to be constantly worried for my safety and the safety of my loved ones when walking on the street at night unlike some parts of the world.

Like some of the senior forumers said you come to this world empty handed and will also leave empty handed.
