SINGAPORE — Police today (Jan 9) arrested two Chinese men, aged 41 and 50, in a rare kidnapping case in Singapore.

The police were notified of the case at around 2pm yesterday when Mr Lim Hock Chee reported that an unknown person had demanded a S$20 million for the return of his 79-year-old mother, who was last seen in the vicinity of Hougang yesterday morning.

The next interesting question is whether both of them will get death penalty.
Since this involves Singapore's reputation as a safe haven for rich and famous, I think these two guys will probably be hanged.

Singapore is so small. You really need a very good plan to execute a successful kidnap and getting away with $$$.

Ransom was reportedly paid. But I think there is more than meets the eye.
I suspect the people involved may know Mr Lim and his family and it is not a random targeting of a rich man.
You can count on the greed of man for the next recession to happen.

Not long ago, riot and now kidnap. Singapore's getting headlines for the wrong reasons.
One off? or is there strong under currents beneath the surface?
