When we, Singaporeans witnessed the PRC Bus Strike and now India nationals RIOT in LITTLE INDIA, we simply know they are very different from us.

May i bring out here even our MM said 山 高皇帝远 mentality of the PRC CHINESE regarding the SOO CHOW Park Agreement.
i think it applies to the India Nationals here in Singapore too.
With this type of 山 高皇帝远 mentality of these PRC CHINESE & India Nationals FWs, do you agree Singaporeans are duly worried about Singapore future?
If we don't voice out our worries now after the India National Riot then when?
When Singapore lost it's identity to FWs & FTs, completely?
Then it's too late baby now, it's too late to worry. It's over. (As the lyrics in a song says).

NB:
It's a matter of our livelihood now and our future; Our children's future. We can not wait until the next GE. We have to voice out every now and then when detrimental events occur in Singapore to our G. So that hopefully our G can fine tune the country's policies for the benefit of all Singaporeans and not the "Elites" only.

One thing we need to protect is the basic right to speak up, and without fear. Our edu system has 'trained' many not to question and there will be side effect to this.

It is the right thing to do to continuously evaluate things that r happening, and 4 yrs could be too long in this fast chging world. Some things/events could be irreversible. Many problms that we are seeing now, could have been prevented if actions are taken earlier.

He is entitled to his opinions in his discrete world and I am entitled to my rational posts where events have a catalyst, which I think my posts in aggregate and historically has not been deemed nonsensical nor sensational I hope.

The next few weeks when tempers calm we will see what transpired, and whether my mosiac effort is right or just false assumptions

I didn't know that there is a difference between your post and my post. Mine is deemed as discreet and yours is deemed as rational. Perhaps Cityfarmer may wish to clarify if there is such a difference for different posts? Smile

It's good to have different opinions. I have been lucky enough to be given a chance to counsel some of the workers and it is definitely not what some people have perceived it to be and I am still cool (i.e. no temper). Social work has given me a different perspective in life. Human behaviours have never been predictable. Smile

Whether your effort is right or just false assumption, I would applaud you whichever way. Nothing to celebrate, nothing to defend unless one just takes everything written here as a "battle". Either win to reinforce your own belief or lose and enforce your own belief. Whichever way, life would still go on as normal. No trumpet, no booing. I would also accept whatever the conclusion is after (emphasis added) investigation is completed.

Discrete because u don't see events as being related.

Again we are assuming the police did a good job just watching a video and a press statement from DPM. Surely he will defend the Home Team? Aren't we one-sided?

Yet it is a reasonable assumption based on the facts of the event with speedy dispersal and not a single shot fired. We don't need a DPM statement to tell us that. It only confirms what we know if we look at the event rationally.

Police with a six round revolver is not designed to tackle a crowd where herd instincts rule. What happen if they don't disperse after a round is fired into the sky and you anger them? Shoot 5? The baton and shield are much well designed to inflict pain and not cause death, if handled properly. And of course there are water-canons and tear gas for the riot squads. To belittle the police officers that are not designed for the task is equivalent to asking STAR team to do a commando incursion.

There are people who invest only when the sky is clear as summer noon, but we know what are the issues with that vs doing our homework and making reasonable guesstimates. Our minds work on heuristics, assumptions based on reasonable and well guided facts, are different from jumping to conclusions with biased pre-judgement, or in some cases sensationalisation to have more eyeball counts. If we read widely and globally we will be able to piece together information and come to a reasonable conclusion. Hard science like statistics like numbers injured, cars destroyed, etc measure an event, it does not explain an event. And as we grow older we realise everything is more an art than science (this is coming from a finance guy with science background), and things have preconditions to be true. The adage of "Do Not Assume" is just as ridiculous as "Make Mistakes". Life is full of uncertainties and yet too short to make mistakes we cannot recover from.

As I always say 中庸之道. There are some here most agitated when people comment against the govt, and some here that everything blame the govt. Regular forumers would be able to judge and know (and yes based on assumption from their posts). Be centrists my friends and stay rational.

Well, A. L. said:-
"You can fool some of the people some of the time. You can even fool some of people all of the time. But you can't fool all the people all of the time."

It's simply the whole lot of common folks can not be all stupid.
If it is, why after 5 years from last GE, allow the people to vote again?

Our top echelon in G are almost all make up of Top Scholars of Singapore, surely they know about A. L. more then us common folks.

>> So, I should see events as been related to be rational? I would think that each post is a person's view. Discrete or rational is not for one to judge.

Again we are assuming the police did a good job just watching a video and a press statement from DPM. Surely he will defend the Home Team? Aren't we one-sided?
>> I have never commented that the police did a good or bad job. Is this what you yourself think instead? Not sure who the "we" are you referring to.

Yet it is a reasonable assumption based on the facts of the event with speedy dispersal and not a single shot fired. We don't need a DPM statement to tell us that. It only confirms what we know if we look at the event rationally.
>> An assumption is reasonable or not is not for us to say. To you, it is reasonable. To others, it may not be. Ditto for events.

Police with a six round revolver is not designed to tackle a crowd where herd instincts rule. What happen if they don't disperse after a round is fired into the sky and you anger them? Shoot 5? >> I would take it that it is referring to other posts since I don't think I have commented on anything on whether the police has do a great job or not. Perhaps you should be quoting others instead.

There are people who invest only when the sky is clear as summer noon, but we know what are the issues with that vs doing our homework and making reasonable guesstimates. >> There are more knowledge in this world than just coming to a reasonable conclusion even if one has read widely and globally. If one really has read widely and globally, he would have reserved comments on things that are not based on facts but opinions and assumptions.

As I always say 中庸之道. There are some here most agitated when people comment against the govt, and some here that everything blame the govt. Regular forumers would be able to judge and know (and yes based on assumption from their posts). Be centrists my friends and stay rational.

I would think that if one gets most agitated because of the replies that he gets when others wrote against him or for him may have to reflect on himself. Did he hold on to his own beliefs for too long? Why he could not accept differing views? If not, why would he gets agitated? Something to ponder.

Lee Hsien Long better pray hard that WP doesn't manage to recruit more marquee candidates in the mold of Chen Show Mao.

With everything breaking so badly for PM Lee (first the floods, then strike, now riot), once WP are able to assemble a slate of credible candidates to contest the GRCs, PM Lee can kiss his two-thirds parliamentary majority good bye.

Well, actually i think no point going on from here.
It will never end.
Why?
Only the next coming GE will tell us how many % of Singaporeans is still with our G.
Meanwhile, we can only make a little noises here and there about our "unhappiness", about our feelings insecure, etc.....

Which is useless in your opinion.
And you may be right until the next GE lol.
Then we will know whether useful or not for people making all the little noises here and there.
Full Stop!
