Metro past records, for your info
1. Set up Kmart supermaket in early 90, within 3 yrs co go bust
2. Mid' 90 start-up Sun Cruise ship to compete with Star cruise...but not everyone can start a gambling business , he tot by pinning over star cruise staff so easy, within a year loss heavily on the gambling tables, and then suddenly cruise ship sunk in Penang, co close shop...dunno how much they collect from insurance.
3. 2005, Sold (or securitized) off 27% Ngee Ann city stake (aro 500 million) to a german fund trustee who later form reit to collect money back from retail investor.
4. MD Jopie ong, consistently yearly reward himself with fat bonus, driving Bently , frequent casino and being divorcee and rich, sure have pretty companion.

Well, it normal that when you are very rich, you can use money to buy loyal followers, willing to do anythings for you.....Ong family is pigee bank on the company, its a family control business.

So judge yourself, will they pass their money to the small investors, unless 1 day a big timer quietly buy over 50% and kick the Ongs out....
Just found out also, over the weekend, that Metro was an early stage investor in The Hour Glass, but sold its stake back to the founders before they listed it.
Metro divested the 27% and JO had a total remeneration of S$17 millions for that year.
17 million??? But if don't divest, the stake is worth more as of today........

Even though Mr Market has spoken but let's nt try to fall into hindsight bias over here..
You can re-visit the situation at the point of divestment, and make a rational judgement, based on the avail info at that time, whether it was a good decision or not.
