Myanmar approves law on central bank autonomy

YANGON — Myanmar’s President has signed a law that allows the central bank more autonomy from the Finance Ministry, opening the way for development of the fledgling banking sector.

Details of the new legislation have yet to be published, but the presidential office said the new legislation will separate the central bank from the Finance Ministry.

Is Myanmar really serious ? Seems too good to be true but the fact is they are opening up.

Seems like the banking sector is starting to open up in Myanmar.

Neratel has started installing payment solutions terminals for major banks in Myanmar.

Will we see Myanmar people starting to use NETS and credit cards?
