Current price $0.69, I guess Mr. Market is happy with the results from SSG... If dividend is going up 25% (based on 1H results and interim dividend) this year, I reckon the fair value to be $0.725 based on 5% yield.
I consider SSG recession and interest rate hike proof sector... any comments?
Any comments?

Fresh items e.g. veg and meats, are very high margin items, which are available in the company online store, as well as in its retail stores.
RedMart is also targeting on similar products. There are hurdles to ensure the fresh items are delivered in expected quality, and with minimum waiting time. SS did it now, and RedMart is catching-up...

I have been sceptical on SS since day 1, and time and again it has proven me wrong. Congrats to those vested!

As a decision maker in buying grocery, I will prefer to go to the store and pick the fresh produce myself. I can choose which packet of veg based on freshness and quality, and choose the meat based on the cut. Not all are equal.
Many times, I feel that Fairprice offer better quality fresh produce than SS. Just my opinion...

I was hesitated to participate during its IPO, even after positive result from DD. It is the only IPO I regretted to-date.
To make sure I didn't miss it again, I decided to invest substantially, when the share price moved below 60 cents, with PE approx 20. The higher PE is compensated by an anticipated catalyst of profit hike mainly due to extended working hours and the online store.
I hope I am right and it is sustainable, and so far it is proven so.

One new initiative from Sheng Siong management...
Sheng Siong beefs up security at Woodlands branches
SINGAPORE — If the security presence at Sheng Siong supermarkets in Woodlands appears a little heavier than usual lately, it is due to a new initiative by the supermarket chain and the Jurong Police Division to deter shop theft and guard against the loss of property at the outlets.
Under a new Community Safety and Security Programme, frontline staff at Sheng Siong outlets in Woodlands are donning vests emblazoned with the words “Security. May I help you?”. This serves as both a warning of security personnel in the store and a friendly offer of assistance.
The staff will also be trained to spot potential thieves, making them de-facto security officers in combating shop theft at the supermarkets.
The initiative was launched on Saturday at the outlet in Woodlands Centre Road.
At the launch, Sheng Siong Supermarket chief executive officer Lim Hock Chee said the initiative would help prevent and deter shop theft as well as provide the best customer service at Sheng Siong Supermarkets.
Mr Lim also plans to introduce the initiative at all Sheng Siong outlets islandwide.

its overpaying for future profits But it's still cheaper than Dairy Farm in terms of PE. So I'd rather choose SS.
