Everyone are faced with different form of stress. We will sometimes wonder how to apply Dharma practice to help us manage such troubles in the Human realm. The best approach is to gradually face up to our problems and accept them.
Master frequently tells everyone that they have to accept the problems and difficulties in life. To be able to bear the responsibility for the karmic debts accrued from past lifetime, is actually a form of courage. The truth is, some people are able to accept while others will find life meaningless whenever they encountered difficulty. However, once they are cheered up by some happenings, he will feel that he is the centre for which everything is created in this world.
As human, we must learn to eliminate our karmic debts; and enduring hardships is to eliminate it. If you refuse to do so, why are you here in the human realm? The purpose of being here in the human realm is to endure hardships and to eliminate karmic debts. Therefore, to eliminate karmic debts is to transform our state of mind; to allow ourselves to gradually appreciate that we have to eliminate the karmic debts created from previous lifetime, rather than bringing it forth to the next lifetime.
As such, do not hide away from whatever difficulties and sense of injustice encountered, but to embrace them instead. There are many courageous individuals who accepted adversities and are able to overcome them; similarly, there are many people who are unable or refused to accept and ended up with more sufferings.

*ADVERSE EFFECT OF COUNTING DOWN*
Q: Nowadays, there are many youngsters, including office workers and students, who love to use APP on smart phone to countdown the days to important events of their lives as reminder to themselves. May I know, how do we look at this from the metaphysic perspective? Does it have any adverse effect?
A: It is definitely not good! A person should only move forward, never backward. To countdown is to count the numbers backward, and to go on a reverse motion daily. What is the idea behind counting-down? It’s like getting nearer to death every day. That’s bad luck! A person should be looking forward, not backward. For example, it is 2 days to your examination, but you said, “I still have 2 more days to go”, isn’t this bad luck? You have 1 week to go before your trip, and you say, “I still have 7 days left”, “I still have 6 days left”. These are all very unlucky and inauspicious.

*Q12: HOW DOES MENTALITY DETERMINES A PERSON'S DESTINY?*
Q: We always say that a person's mentality determines his destiny. How do we explain this from Buddhism perspective? Please enlighten us, Master Lu.
A: A person’s mindset is very important. A negative mindset that holds jealousy, hatred, unforgivingness, and self-righteousness; will never be appreciated by others and no one will ever be nice to him. Such a person will not have a smooth career and will be in frequent fights with his wife at home. How could such a person ever be successful in life?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Wrap up the ashes of _Little Houses_ with an envelope and discard it.
Caller: Do we have to pay any particular attention to the place of disposal? For example the dustbin should not have non-vegetarian or unclean items?
Master Jun Hong Lu: It doesn’t matter. Normally it’s best to throw it into the wastepaper basket.
Caller: Oh. There might be non-vegetarian items inside our dustbin at home, without us knowing it…
Master Jun Hong Lu: So, don’t talk to me about this. You guys who consume non-vegetarian food are really filthy, and your houses also smell foul. It is equivalent to placing a corpse inside your house. The only difference is the sizes of the bodies. Do you understand?
Caller: Yes, I understand. OK, we will take note of this problem.
