I agree with the sentiments. However, i think internet forums might not be a good place in general for individual specific financial advice. For example, I was uncomfortable with further participation in this thread as i had my suspicions that he was a financial advisor and offering client scenarios for our advice.

I wonder how would fellow members feel about offering free, individually tailored advise to a financial planner who then passes it on to his clients and charges for it.

Very unlikely. If I am not wrong, A financial advisor cannot recommend stocks to their client. Only a broker or remisier can. This is the wrong forum for him.

If he really need the forumers here to advise him how to advise his clients, then he will not be able to put it convincingly to them. He will definitely lose the deal.

I do believe that this forum allows free chitchatting and discussion too. After all, there is a general chat section. Big Grin

I also believe that there is something to learn from everyone, whether the positive, or negative, side of thing. In army, there is a term know as "negative demonstration". Big Grin

Anyway, when someone is lying, he/she will need to use another lie to cover up in future. It will be difficult to remember what are the lies mentioned before, and soon a loophole will appear. Worse if the person is trying to have multiple personalities. So, it is still better to be truthful, and make life easier.

These kind guiless souls will believe any sale personal on the street.

Everyone have a different "money sense". Take myself as an example, I do not, and not able to, delve deep into a certain company to dig out all the details, following all the tracks to uncover hidden gems, but that doesn't mean that I can't do value investing. I spread my eggs out on companies that have low PE, low PB or/and high dividend (much easier to me), just to hope that some will hatch into golden geese.

I guess everyone will need to develop their own "investment character", then can sleep well at night.

While I can't contribute in detailed level, at least I hope I can contribute in other means. Otherwise I will be wasting away the 39years of eating salt.

Since you are honest with us now, just curious, mind if I ask you if you had started these threads too?

Thanks.

Hi Cschua,

Thanks for clarifying.

Just wonder which bond fund are you referring to. Next year when F&N likely to redeem their bonds, I will need to find other places to park the money from it.

Thanks in advanced.

I am just curious as Singapore investors, is there really a need to invest on bond or bond funds?

Assuming you are an investor who is an employee, part of your wealth is locked up at CPF and CPF is like a bond fund which guarantees you a min interest rate (assuming you dun use the SA to invest) until 65 and beyond. Thus this thinking has shaped my investment thinking, where most of my savings (not in CPF) goes into equities and the remainder acts as a war chest in times of downturns.
