Moneyball? Applying stats (fundamentals analysis) to discover undervalued players (stocks) ?
Or focus on the player stats (stock fundamentals) not on the popularity (mkt perception)

They're both right. The player price-to-stats principle is a central theme of the movie.

The anti-thesis to 'moneyball' is 'trouble with the curve,' also based on baseball. The principles from both movies are key to good investing. I won't spoil it for interested viewers. Wink

For Moneyball: There is this player (bro of some famous player) was hired for the team. Undervalued. Eventually was let go because of some emotional/discipline issue. Like investment, some investments are undervalued for a reason and will stay undervalued. Also know as value traps.

Moneyball is a show that either sings to you or it doesn't. I enjoyed the show (and subsequently the book) massively but my missus didn't think much of it...

Yup, spot on analogy. That's why I like the movie so much.

For me, the movie, 21
Loosely based on Jeff Ma, who brought down Las Vegas based on Stats and Probability.
Same as investing, we do we study financial reports, looks for moats, do portfolio management, risk management, why traders => technical analysis study charts, all are to increase probability for our picks to beat the market (banker) / make $

Most importantly, stick to the plan and nv let your emotion affect your judgement
