Taiwan pay-TV firm targets S$1 billion IPO in Singapore

SINGAPORE — One of Taiwan’s largest pay-TV operators is poised to go public in Singapore next month in a move that could raise about S$1 billion, a person familiar with the matter said yesterday, underscoring the return of the big listings here following the strong debut last month of Mapletree Greater China Commercial Trust (MGCCT).

Funds managed by Australia’s Macquarie Group, which owns Taiwan Broadband Communications, have hired four investment banks — JP Morgan, DBS Group, CIMB Group and Macquarie — for the initial public offering (IPO) of the business trust on the Singapore Exchange. The cable network operator will be listed as Asian Pay Television Trust, aiming to debut on the market by the end of May, the source said.
