The battle between Mr. Dell and Mr. Icahn might destroy the company, with delay in the necessary transformation..., IMO

SAN FRANCISCO — Dell, the PC-maker embroiled in a takeover battle between its founding CEO Michael Dell and activist investor Carl Icahn, yesterday reported a 72 per cent slide in quarterly earnings as PC sales extended their downward spiral.

Regardless, Dell is still a cash generating machine.

Though its PC business is declining and highly competitive, it still generates a lot of cash.

Michael Dell is smart by taking Dell private now and at a relatively inexpensive price. The cash generated from PC business can fund the privatization, as well as provide capital for enterprise and software service business.
