I know quite a few teachers myself. While I do not disagree that they are reasonably well-paid, perhaps one should be looking at another aspect - propensity to spend. Most of the teachers I know of personally have a higher propensity to spend - on a car, condo and branded stuff. But quite a number of them also have no clue as to how to invest their money (this includes equity and real estate). Some put their money in mutual funds.

Teachers are not well paid but also not under paid.
They eat at canteen, free parking and no time to spend their money which indirectly cause them to have more money to invest.

Btw Is it true that a teacher would usually marry a fellow teacher...? Lol
