That Dr Lim is very famous loh...hehe..
If I see any company that has Dr Lim as director, I will avoid it like plague.

China Powerplus
fabchem
Zhongguo Jilong
China food industries

Many of the experienced investors had paid tuition fee to Dr Lim to learn corporate governance and management behaviour analysis.
Even a big listed company(loti seller) in Singapore also paid tuition fee to him.

what is your assessment of sinotel now man?

Yup so u may need good discount to justify a buy.

To be truthful, I am biased as I burned my ass off Sinotel. Great lesson learnt though.

Good news, its OCF is finally +ve and business is supposedly moving into equipment maintainence and systems solutions to derive more recurring and stable income.

Bad news, its AR is still ballooning. In fact, I expected that revenue to fall this year due to the regulation changes in the equipment design, supply and install but in fact it did not. It was all a doom and gloom during the AGM and now they are actually still growing?! So is this is a typical case of sustaining its ROE with cooked or uncooked books?. In one and half years, it had 2 placements 1 rights issue to service its AP and short term bank loans. I had posted an article in Afralug and CNAforum in the past that made me doubted the integrity of the Chairman on his other venture LeTV. You may wish to dig it up if interested.

One of the lessons learnt is that I have seen how China Mobile are able to manipulate the system to squeeze its contractors. Although unethical, it just shows the reality of strength and power of big govt linked companies.

mrEngineer that is important. you look at how singtel getting exclusive deals. it is very negative for its smaller competitors.

is sinotel in a good industry? i suppose it is competitive but being in somewhat similar business i find that it is cashflow generating with much less capex outlay.

If you want my opinion, I will say sinotel is in a good industry but there are not the strongest and have no moat at all. It is not generating any positive cashflow for quite some time only till recently.

Drizzt,

the reason I asked is because of the China - brand name on it's name. I have not done any research or readup on it yet Smile
