Are u referring to greengiraffe? He seemed to be really enthusiastic about CMP in 2013...

He kept saying it was his core position. Wish he can share his view on this latest development of CMP.

It goes to show how difficult value investing is. If GG with his passion and diligence cannot make a profit after all these years, what about us part timers? Food for thought? Huh

I think he could have still made a profit if dividends collected over the years are included?

In my opinion, it is still prudent to diversify. Secondly, I would personally prefer not to make a China company my biggest core position. For example, if I am uncomfortable making giants like Alibaba. Tencent and Baidu my core positions, why would I want cmp to be core holding right.....

I think GG still make a (big) profit even without accounting for the dividend unless GG sold it before the GO.... I believe even Cityfarmer or most of VBs are in this situation also...

They have positioned themselves well before when there is VALUE and did not "Chase" when it is "Hot"...

Remember that the highest CMP ever reach is 1.15 while the GO is 1.02. Unless you sold it before GO, your lost would be just $130 per lot or less than $60 per lot after accounting for 2 rounds of dividend +  share split. But then most VB, I believe, invested when it is below $1.00

The minority shareholders in CMP has been treated well or at least fairly I feel.

Of course you may want to argue against CMP with other stocks that give much more returns... But then what is the point of doing that?

Yes, I have made a reasonable profit with the GO price (after the bonus issued), even before the dividends collected.

The risk of GO, is always there for OPMIs, especially during bear time. We, as value investors, focus on buy at under-valuation, thus we can not blame the major shareholder do the same, right?  Big Grin

If the GO succeeds, then, we have to accept and move-on to next target.

I just received the offer doc based on shares in my CDP acc. However, I did not receive the offer doc for those held in my CPF investment acc. Is this normal? Or is it CPF holdings sh be sold in open market?
