The new monthly pay for a Singapore Member of Parliament (who does virtually nothing) is S$192,500 (US$148,306) per year tax free.
In addition to their inflated salaries, the Singapore politicians and elite gets extra pay as appointed company directors!
Singapore (tax free!):
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong: US$1,700,000.
Singapore President: US$1,190,000
Singapore cabinet ministers: US$850,000
Singapore members of parliament: US$148,306
I always wonder how true it is. Let's find out
I assume Lee Hsien Loong should be on par in capability with his younger brothers, Lee Hsien Yang. How much does Lee Hsien Yang paid?
IIRC, Lee Hsien Yang's ex-chairmanship of F&N paid S$1 million a year + S$250K chairman fee. It is already S$1.25 million. He also chairman of CAAS, probably another S$250K fee, so total S$1.5 million
Chairman of board is not a full-time job. Lee Hsien Yang's full time job is private investor with his accumulated wealth.
It should be easily concluded that Lee Hsien Yang paid better than Lee Hsien Loong. On top of that, Lee Hsien Yang seems has a much better life, no need to face voters, no need to seek successor, no need to find a better future for Singaporean which is a tough challenge. Lee Hsien Yang not even need to be a full-time employee.
So is PM job a better choice for Lee Hsien Loong in monetary sense? Hmm...
