Although I don't know the full picture (so can't jump to conclusions), I am very saddened whether this monk is really a monk or a career professional... I know monks still need to eat and sleep; but....
I've seen too many false (monks) shepherds during my time in China... Giving fortune telling sessions and telling the patrons to "donate" in return for incense burning or blessings - the bigger the incense (gao xiang) the more "prosperity" or "luck" you receive? You buy "karma"?
