There is a flaw assumption that, direct-selling companies have direct control on their members. In a direct-selling model, company and members are not employer-employee relationship, but partnership. It is lesser control as partners, than employed staffs.
I did not read into the detail, but it is not uncommon to "loss-control" on members, especially during high growth period, for other global direct-selling companies.
