Quote:Agreement with OMGTEL Pte Ltd
SMRT Corporation Ltd (the "Company") wishes to announce that the Company has entered into an agreement (the "Agreement")with OMGTEL Pte. Ltd.("OMG") today to work exclusively with OMG in connection with OMG's bid for the 4th wireless telecommunications carrier licence (the "Telco Licence") in Singapore. OMG is a company incorporated in Singapore by Consistel Pte Ltd on 20 October 2014 for the purpose of bidding for the Telco Licence. Parties have also agreed to use best endeavours to negotiate, and execute a collaboration agreement.
The collaboration agreement will be for the provision of such services and/or goods as may be agreed between the parties and will seek to leverage on synergies that can be derived from the Company’s extensive media presence and commuter reach.
(Not vested)
And now they are venturing into telecom biz by working with OMG...OMG!
On closer looks, it says "work exclusively with OMG in connection with OMG's bid for the 4th wireless telecommunications carrier licence (the "Telco Licence") in Singapore". I interpret it to mean OMG will bid for the licence , SMRT is just a partner as it has extensive media presence and commuter reach. So it is not a JV relationship, which means if OMG wins, SMRT will benefit, if OMG don't win, SMRT will not suffer loses.Looks like quite a good deal if I read it correctly.
Anyway, kudos to the mgmt team for their effort in looking out for opportunity outside fare business.
SMRT can bring "bundling" and "hubbing" to a whole new level....
Next time we might see something like the following marketing taglines:
"Buy an iphone and ride for free! "
"Call and ride..."
"Surf and ride.."
