Good new for shareholders of Oceansky. I should have stayed on.

Here is my record :-( :-(

I used to hold lots of Oceansky many years ago but sold them all with LOSSES of -7.69%

Bought 15/Dec/09 (13 cents) Sold 6/May/10 at (12 cents) :-)

Bought again on Jun/10 at $ 0.105 and sold $ 0.105, end of Aug/13

Hi all,

I am trying to understand my "mistake" with this trade but cannot figure out the rationale. Hopefully fellow buddies can help to point out what went wrong.

I bought at 18 cents in July, sold before they go 13 cents XD in early Sep for 32 cents.

My thoughts for selling are:
1. NAV around 25 cents, after 13 cents dividend, not much meat left. I don't want to end up with an almost empty shell like what I had with Lion Asiapac after their special dividend.
2. Up 80% from my purchase price, and within 2 - 3 months. Obviously, I got lucky. So I can't resist the temptation to take profit.

However, now that after XD, the price today is 32.5 cents! So it seems that I "lost" 13 cents as I sold before dividend go XD.

What did I do wrong huh?

What would you have done in my shoes?

Purpose is not cry over spilled milk but to learn from the experience. Appreciate if fellow buddies can enlighten! Thanks Smile

After giving the large dividend, ocean sky is like a empty shell which is potential target for RTO. However, the sgx announcement by ocean sky mentioned that it is in possible disucssion for RTO. I generally observe those company with possible RTO is likely to experience price surge which are beyond the "fundamental" value.

In future, if there is a similar situation and you feel that there is potential for RTO, i suggest you can sell half and keep the rest for possible price appreciation.

Agree. For some reason people like to do binary trades of selling or buying all. Mr Market never demanded that. You can buy slowly or sell slowly if no high conviction (investigating perhaps) or no near term catalysts.
Before you speak, listen. Before you write, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you invest, investigate. Before you criticize, wait. Before you pray, forgive. Before you quit, try. Before you retire, save. Before you die, give. –William A. Ward

Shouldn't we sell all when Mr. Market is offering way better prices than the intrinsic value? Because we don't know if he will get depressed again?
