Good observation, usually when stock drop until lows and not much volume or action is a good guide for accumulation. Trick is to be prepared with cash to load up when that happens.

Not vested in keppel but employing similar strategy for other stocks

Agreed.
The problem is, (always got problem one) will it repeat? i think no "Black Swan" no repeat. Now i see only a few swallows fly doesn't made a summer. The directors don't have to behave like us retailers. They have got money to burn. not worth for them to buy now a little by little.
WB:-

1) Rule # 1, do not lose money.
2) Rule # 2, refer to # 1.
3) Not until you can manage your emotions, you can manage your money.

Truism of Investments.
A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

NB:-
My signature is meant for psychoing myself. No offence to anyone. i am trying not to lose money unnecessary anymore.

how much money can Kepcorp throw in to support their share price?
can kepcorp go against the general market downtrend?

will another US$100 million be enough? or US$200 million? we DO NOT know, can we now say for a fact that the market can stay irrational, longer than kepcorp? Tongue

Kepcorp = deep pockets! Big Grin

Let see how this works out! Tongue

Oil is below US$60 today,
OPEC said it will not cut production until US$40 or less per barrel! Tongue
Something has to give!! Big Grin
1) Try NOT to LOSE money!
2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!
3) CASH in hand is KING in BEAR!
4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!

I think Keppel probably throw in money too early, as can see from the chart $7.70 and S$6.70 being the strong support level, perhaps Keppel like the number "8" psychologically. I would consider to get some of it when it goes below 7 dollar. Pretty confident that it will happen once the deep pockets got no coins left.

US$100m is probably equivalent to 17.5m shares based on share price of 7.50 each (yes, lower than the current price because it is on downtrend). Average buyback volume for the last 5 sessions = 670k shares per day. Base on this figure, 100m would last for 26.12 days, which typically drag until mid of January, if Keppel do buyback every trading day at similar pace.

Another thing to note, the last share buy back in year 2000 cost Keppel less than SGD100m, so what do you guys think? Big Grin

I noticed that 2 directors have committed ~800k each to purchase 100lots for the past week. Somehow, the directors have that 'honor' to use their cash TOGETHER with the company's Big Grin

How is this 800k size to them considering their annual compensation will be an important consideration.

Agree that relative to their net worth or income is an important consideration

That said, we have to remember the adage there are many reasons for insiders to sell, but only one to buy. Then again there are exceptions to the adage which IMHO Courts post IPO CEO buying is a good example, or others who "need" to signal the market for higher stock price to obtain certain "objectives"... Heshe stock comes to mind.

That's my general experience and observation on the broad market. Keppel is a blue chip

Companies buyback is a good sign but still OPM. Insiders buying is a better sign. My friend said wife buying is the best sign cause the guy will be haunted for life if it didn't turn out right Big Grin
