another buy back today probably?

Yesterday's SGX Annc (Share Buy Back on 27-Apr @ 28ct for 1,153,000 shares) before the mkt opened was a surprise to me for the following reasons,

1. New high of 28ct (previous high 26ct) for Shares Buy Back, which is higher than Q3 (Jan) NAV = 26.66ct. I'm suspecting Q4 (Apr) NAV to be above 28ct, perhaps mainly due to Revaluation Gains on completed properties (8Raja). Here, I'm only suspecting Shares Buy Back is capped at NAV. It could also be most likely some other cap being used internally and only known to them...

2. Last year, Q4 results were released on 29-Jun-12. I thought they'd have been under a 'Blackout' period by now for Shares Buy Back...

Anyway, a pleasant surprise as the 28ct ought to provide a good short term support for now...Big Grin
Some info which need someone else to verify...

8Raja was launched on 15-May. So far 3 units sold (according to agent).

Anyway, won't see impact in coming results as FY end is Apr.

Thx! May data not yet available... Hv to wait another week..
Popular has released its FY13 results and it makes for pretty grim reading all round. While revenue dropped only 5%, net profit dropped by a quarter. Margins is largely the same from previous years. But there was a negative free cash flow for the first time since FY08.

A final dividend of 1c payable is Sept has been declared.

Here's a 5-years summary of the revenue, profits, balance sheet and cash flow statements:

Nice table!

If we were to look at the Quarterly figures, the main damage to EPS was done in 1H. EPS breakdown,

1H13 = 0.99ct vs 1H12 = 1.70ct ie. -42%
2H13 = 1.80ct vs 2H12 = 2.00ct ie. -10%

From the segmentals, all 3 segments contributed to the damage with Property from a profit contribution to a loss.

For now, despite a worse than FY12 P&L + BS, I'm staying put but not complacent... Will be following closely their next couple of Qs to see how the story turns out, especially 8Raja...

I was also wrong about the Shares Buy Back. NAV = 27.29ct but their highest was 28ct on 27-May-13. Now, I wonder what's their internal basis...
Popular bought back 495,000 shares at 27 cents today.

for penny stock there's been a lot of buybacks over the FY, its almost like trading in its own shares, but each time buying with a higher value or to keep the share price up.

another theory is to keep raising EPS. bonus related?

explanation for lousy accounts is rather glib.

if SGX is happy then it must be OK.....
What we'd been expecting to happen...
