Hi all,

I was wondering, does brokerage firm in Singapore, help their clients to claim back 30% withholding dividend tax, from US government?

The reason I'm asking so, is I'm having account with Malaysia brokerage firm. However, as far as I know, they don't help clients to claim back 30% withholding dividend tax from US government Sad

So far, if Singapore brokerage firm does help clients to claim back 30% withholding dividend tax, I'm particular interested in http://www.maybank-ke.com.sg/index.htm . Anyone know hows their service like?

Thanks.

Agreed. The dividend withhold has no chance to be returned if i remember correctly.

Possibly another situation where you did not complete the W8Ben form where your Capital is withhold.
I have yet heard about this story but possible.

You cant. Go the US IRS for the details. We have no tax treaty with the US.

That said, if you can get an accountant in US, you get skirt the rules. But benefits > costs by a ton to be worth it.

Look on the bright side, your capital gains are not taxed.
