Safety bubble? Is there such a thing? Suppose you buy Singtel when it reaches $5.60 in a few weeks / months time, ( fundamentally nothing changes in company); then you are really in a bubble but definitely not safe . May I also start a new term? You have bought Singtel @ bubbled prices.
WB:-

1) Rule # 1, do not lose money.
2) Rule # 2, refer to # 1.
3) Not until you can manage your emotions, you can manage your money.

Truism of Investments.
A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

M1, Starhub, SingTel, banks etc... are shares with predictable earnings and yields and those shares are hitting new high. Thats why the term "safety" bubble.

I interpret it the same way that Bibi does. It's not an oxymoron. Although I don't put much weight in analyst opinions, I think there were a few uncalled for remarks on this one.

OMG! The current bull market has lulled many into complacency. They have become too lazy to check the facts before they jump into conclusions...Tongue

"Jump to conclusion" is dangerous both for investments and engineering works, complacency is one key reason. Starts each investment or engineering work with a "freshie" mindset is one way to tackle the danger...

He says:

Our index top picks are DBS, Thai Beverage, UOL, GLP, Capitaland and ST Engineering. Our non-index picks are SATS, Tat Hong, Biosensors, Courts Asia, Ezion and Vard. For sectors, we raise financials to Overweight and telcos and REITs to Neutral. We chop commodities and transport back to Underweight.

What they meant is, there is relatively too much optimism in high yield stocks (aka defensive stocks, ie "safety" stocks). Thread carefully.

My take is, always go for stocks with the lowest price to value ratio, skip the overpriced/fairly-priced shares altogether.
