AI for 5G Billing Data Acceleration Program Wins TM Forum "Outstanding Catalyst-Innovation" Award

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Nov. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- AI for 5G Billing Data Acceleration Catalyst Program, in which Whale Cloud is a key participant, has won the Outstanding Catalyst-Innovation award from TM Forum during Digital Transformation Asia 2019. The award was presented on November 14 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Catalyst is championed by China Unicom, targeting the use of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and calculations in the network edge as techniques to counter the problems operators could face from the fast and massive real-time data stream processing created by 5G networks.

5G's large bandwidth, low latency, and large connectivity features are bound to generate massive message CDRs and data, and the support system will face tremendous pressure. In response to this, the catalyst project analyses the basic data consumption characteristics of different users and applies AI and machine learning techniques to create user portraits based on specific patterns of customer behaviour. Combined with calculations at the network edge this can help to reduce the amount of downstream billing data that needs to be produced and processed.

The award was presented by Michael Lawrey, Former Chairman and Ambassador of TM Forum. He expressed the acknowledgement of this catalyst as an actual solution to a common issue of the 5G billing on behalf of the judge panel and gave his congratulations to the catalyst team for creatively leveraging AI technologies to resolving the 5G billing issue.

Whale Cloud has also participated in Blockchain-based 5G Collaboration Economy and 5G Value Plus Lifestyle projects. Both catalyst projects were shortlisted in the 'Outstanding use of TM Forum assets' and 'Best new Catalyst in show' categories.
