Of course. You work in Challenger?
as a staff you should be allowed to buy company shares
if you want to be 100% sure, checking with the HR department would be good

some companies have certain restrictions, such as not allowing staffs to trade the company shares 2 weeks from the earnings announcement date.

some companies also have employee share scheme, allowing employees to buy company shares at a discount.

When challenger IPO-ed many years back, they gave staffs 10 lots each for free (par value 10 cents per share, so about 1k worth)
Nice boss, nice company ^_^
I don't work for challenger. But I work in challenger as a promoter for a brand

Final dividend will be the same as last year, 1.25 cents or more?

so far Challenger has paid 1.1 cents dividends this first half year, which is 10% higher than previous year's 1 cents.

For the final dividends, I do expect it to be higher than last year's 1.25 cents.

CFO mentioned that they will try to pay at least 50% of earnings out as dividends for the next 3 years.

My forecast for 2013 full year earnings would be around 5 cents earnings per share against 4.69 cents in 2012.

As such I expect full year dividends to be around 2.5 cents, therefore a final dividends of 1.4 cents or higher.

Overall I expect earnings and dividend payout of FY2013 to be around 10% higher than FY2012.

Currently Challenger trades at 60 cents, that's around 12 times earnings. My fair value for challenger is 15 times earnings or 75 cents.

Shall wait for results on feb 12, cheers ^_^

Ok la share with u all. Have worked at all the retailers like Harvey, courts and best. Courts only rely on their flexi plans( extraordinary interest plans for people with no credit cards) and pay their staffs a lot of commission. Best denki sell so much product and always more staffs than customer, wonder how well they manage their retail space. Harvey like to slash their prices anyhow, you can go to any stores, if you extend your warranty they are very likely to give u discounts, they focus on their extended warranty a lot. All advertise very fiercely. High revenue comes with high expenses. Challenger is much more prudent and more focus, doesn't sell home appliances and furnitures, more to selling IT necessities that everyone needs. Is expanding and has more store over the island than its competitor. Was doing very well. Valore is a game changer, we will see how it affects the b/s. Just some of my experiences and observations

Went to nex outlet and encountered excellent service provided by this Challenger Salesman when he got bombarded with questions regards to the product by this Indian female customer .

The Indian customer was not a green horn in IT network device as she posted technical questions such as the " range coverage , static Ips etc.." and pricing differences between the a new local brand and old established brand ( The new local brand costs more than the establish old brand instead) to the Salesman.

The Salesman responded the questions professionally with backed technical reasons ( some salesman actually do not know what they are talking and will try to "smoke" the customers )

I stood there for a good 15 mins observing the conversation between them before i walked off . I must say this Challenger Salesman really provide a great customer service. ( Do not know if Challenger would have their staff for product training , but hey i did learn much from this Salesman after hearing his product service to the Customer)

Though i do not know in the end , did the customer bought anything .

It is not surprising to me on the observation. The "enquiry" test is one of the activities, during my visit to the company's outlet. So far the test results were passed with merit. Big Grin

Staff expenses is one major expense for the company, rank after the COGS, and above rental expenses. It shows that the company has taken care of its staff, both in remuneration packages and trainings.
I went to the Yishun branch.
The staff is not well versed when i asked them about the routers and such.
So i buried my eyes into the phone and did my own research instead.
(Which i think the staff could have done that to familiarise their tech knowledge)

However i do find the staff tried their best to be helpful.
