Yes have watched it. Reminded me of ABL saga too with their slew of announcements on assets acquisition plan etc driving price up before everything exploded. 8b sgd wiped out by the time dust settled. Many till these days still blame the lukewarm retailers interest in trading shares to the penny crash.
Rather than blaming MAS/SGX or assigning all the S-chips into the same bin (both are simple heuristics to fall into), it is about looking at taking responsibility/action and look at every investment for their own merits (risk vs reward). Until now, i still find specuvestor's ABS model (Asset Business Structure) as 1 of the easiest way to review each companies holistically, with the importance inverted (Structure --> Business --> Asset).

In the panel discussion after the screening, which was organised by Singapore Film Society and Singapore Press Holdings, a member of the audience asked: So who do we trust now? The short-sellers?
My take is, ultimately as an investor, the only protection we can rely on is us, ourselves. We have to educate ourselves and understand what we are parting our hard-earned money for. We have to grasp the risks we are taking and the kind of rewards we are getting in exchange for taking those risks. We have to keep in mind the incentive structure of the people selling us the products or telling us something.
