- I think his results are very good already, considering he is just starting out, most of us started out with losses (including yours truly).
- He seems to have followed Phil Fisher method of scuttlebutt investment, by talking to management, investors and competitors. I have no idea how to invest this way, to me, the numbers speaks louder than words.
- He is casting his nets really wide, he's got Singapore, Malaysia, HK and even Thai coys. (think Peter Cundill) I must also admit that I have rather limited knowledge of other markets, especially those not English based. I believe with experience in SGX, we should then cast out nets wider.
I'm interested to know if he's now full time managing investment fund, or working a full-time yet have plenty of time for intel. gathering work?

Realistically, I doubt 1.1m AUM is enough for any asset manager to survive on. I wanted to learn more about his portfolio other than from the TNP article; a quick google search on his Linkedin profile shows he is still looking for employment in the area of private/public equity investments.

Considering the various blunders TNP has made in the past interviewing self-proclaimed rich people, I am very doubtful much fact check was done on the story.
Not to be cynical, but I truly wonder how the journalists come about reporting these articles on such people? Do these people call journalists over to their home and tell them 'Hello, write about me and my money.'? Seems more like a self attempted publicity stunt to boost one's employability.
I know that when you requested for you to be reported on their papers/magazines you have to meet their requirements so that can justify the worth of readership and etc. otherwise I don't think the editor would agree to let the article goes published.

IIRC, Moderator CY09 was once interviewed by BT on personal finance matters. It was one of those periodical recurring interviews that would feature different investors talking about "What do you drive now", "Home now is...", "What is the your best/worst investments" etc
Maybe he might sheath some light on how he came about to be interviewed?
Drats. I thought I had "concealed well enough" here not to be linked to my real life name
The reporter will email you questions to assess your suitability; these questions are similar to the ones we are asked of in job interviews. i.e. "Describe more about yourself", "how you got interested in personal finance" etc. In addition, they do ask for documentation such as statement of proof of holdings/ trading history.
hi CY09,
IIRC, it was someone on the forum that "exposed" you. Anyways, at least i had already forgotten your real name..Btw, what was the trigger to "email you in the first place"...I mean, i never got such emails in my inbox (unless the spam function was overkilling)
I wrote in mentioning I was interested to contribute on the topic of personal finance having been a reader of the weekly column. Following which, I was subjected to the screening as I had mentioned above.
