hmm..didnt know trans fat is originated from world war 2
OK i think i must have exaggerated, it was margarine (derived from trans fat) that was invented during one of the wars to feed the troops.
i think thats why they say magarine is not good.
I thought OCK says that there is no transfat in their oil.

No transfat does not mean no fat in the ingredient. The oil is also reused a few times (i dunno how many).

That does not mean the food is healthy. The healthy ones come with MOH logo.

Wholemeal bread is still a healthier option. Try the one at PRIMA... no preservative, last 3 days only if not put in fridge.

Anyway the curry puff is too expensive, I try to eat less of this one... maybe 1 mth at most 1-2.
Fast Food is general is not good for health. But we don't seems to care about it. Look at the queues in the fast food restaurants. Even if I eat KFC once a month I feel like I have eaten all the fat I need for the entire year.

We seem to be addicted to fast food.
thats why fast food is good money, especially fried snacks easy to sell and loved by young and old, high volume of sales and small overlay in capital, no brainer business just fry sell fry sell fry sell and repeat.

Around my place there is a fried chicken franchise "ke ai ji" they work long hours almost 365 and do huge volume business, my conservative estimate everyday they bring in at least 1k in sales maybe twice that on weekends and public holidays.

Maybe I should quit my job and run a chicken franchise Big Grin

I agree, fried chicken seems to strike a chord with people old and young. You should check out the crowd at Arnold's fried chicken at city plaza.. Guess what, it is set up by an ex KFC store manager.

Perhaps its time to take another look at Elite KSB

For completeness sake, ock response to the incident can be found at the same link that has been updated with "We have apologised twice: Old Chang Kee"

I've tried the Arnods Fried Chicken and must say it's different, KFC chicken is rather dry but Arnod's is really juicy a pity they don't have more stores around.

Having sung praises about OCK good model the bad thing about it is that it is too easy to copycat their success as there are no "intellectual property rights" anybody can open a snack store next to OCK stores and sell whatever OCK is selling and since they are not bound by any franchise agreements can slash prices wantonly and compete and in singapore there are many copycats around. Consumers will go for whichever is cheaper or more value for money.
