For 15 years, a 70-year-old man handed over all of his $2,000 salary to two elderly women. The women claimed it was for a government debt. But there was no debt. They had cheated him of more than $400,000, including his CPF of $53,000.To survive the last 15 years, he had to borrow money from his sister and neighbours.

You are welcomed.
I think Mr Tan deserves the recognition and warmth from our society. He worked hard to repay "debt" and tried to make a living. I suppose many motorists benefited from his work as pump attendant.

As for the two scums, I am quite willing as a taxpayer to pay for their rest of their life in Changi.

I second the motion, with two hands...Sad
This is why we need to have minimal baseline to lock some money away -> CPF.

Yes CPF LIFE (Annuity).
Let us wait till whether the Police got a case to charge the 2 women in court. If the Police can't throw the books at the women then what?
have to jail these 2 aunties for 20 years, and get their families to pay back the poor uncle... GOSH!
what kind of society is this?!!
jail yes but money cannot take back already, it's not a lump sum taken recently but small sums over a long period likely all the money spent already. And the 2 ladies in their late 60's are quiet old also how ? or where they going to earn the money to pay back? There could also be some history we don't know between him and the 2 ladies.

You consider the report says he simple minded got cheated what about his family and relatives he keeps borrowing from them over the years eventually somebody ought to came to know but yet all this time nobody from his family side probe into this or even complained isn't it looks strange?
