Market competition is good in this instance because without these apps, doubt LTA would come up with this idea, bearing in mind the taxi demand/supply mismatch issue has been discussed for years already

But in other strategic interest or structural reasons for example MRT or power producers, competition may not be the best policy. I've yet to see the power tariff come down. It goes up when oil goes up as cost increased, but comes down so slowly because they have hedged the oil cost. Nice job.
Feedback from Cyber world is "TAXI TAXI" application by LTA is no good. You can only know where there are taxis but you can't book any as no booking software come s with "TAXI TAXI". It something like you can see the grapes but you can't eat it. Ha! Ha! What's wrong with you man? It's FOC O. K.

THE Ministry of Transport (MOT) will study third-party ride-booking apps such as GrabTaxi and Uber, and where justified, level the playing field between private-hire drivers using these apps and taxi drivers, said Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan on his blog on Friday.

"I have asked Senior Minister of State Ng Chee Meng to take on this assignment, consult our taxi drivers and the general public, and forge a fair solution," added Mr Khaw.
