Yancoal to shed 225 Hunter Valley staff
THE AUSTRALIAN JULY 24, 2015 3:41PM

Chinese-controlled coalminer Yancoal Australia has announced it will cut up to 225 staff from its Hunter Valley, NSW mines because of the global coal market downturn.

“This has been a difficult decision for the business and while we have taken every step over the last year to try and avoid today’s announcement, unfortunately we do not have any further options available at this time,” Yancoal Australia chief Reinhold Schmidt said.

“Our management teams are speaking with employees and ensuring they have access to the necessary external employment, redundancy and counselling services required to assist them throughout the process.”

ASX-listed Yancoal will cut 170 staff at its Abel underground mine and stop mining on weekends, leaving it operating 108 employees on a five-days-a-week roster.

At its Austar underground mine, near Paxton, it will cut 55 staff, leaving it to operate with 185 employees.
Regulator still haven't step in to investigate.

the way share price is going, if it hit below 20cent, noble may have to be taken off the STI.

some good points made in that article.

Given the recent further retreat in commodity markets, Noble should be bleeding even more in the quarters to come, perhaps then the lenders will start putting some heat on the Noble mgt.
