"There is no bad publicity" saying only applies to entertainment line. Financials which need a facade of credibility.
His employer did the right thing to part ways with him. They would not want the bad publicity or associate with a bad character.

Correct... no HNW clients or firm that value discretion would want this kind of PR stunt... u guys really extrapolate too much

The other lesson to learn is that PR just pack up and go. That's why citizenship must have its priviledges. I am not against immigrants as Singapore is an immigrant society... but I care that you are vested as a citizen here. I have great respect for Khaw BW as well. But if you are not a citizen, then behave like a good guest and dont talk too much.

IMHO he should just be deemed "undesirable" and have PR revoked. It is not unprecedented.

i am curious. So far how many PRs were deemed "undesirable" and have PRs revoked? Surely not the high flyers FTs though? For me i noticed this was the first time our "FM" came out and spoke quite strongly against high flyer FT. i think that's the furthest our G. will do in this case; Less, our G appears to be unfriendly(trigger happy)to high flyer FTs who help to make Singapore "Switzerland of the East".
imho- there is really a lot of "privileges" our G gives to high flyer FTs.
There is at least one during the Alpha-S saga. It is not unprecedented
Just look at the amazing underperformance of Crossinvest Asia relative to MSCI AC Asia Pacific:

The fund managers should just wind up the fund.

Perhaps the Anton Casey controversy would be the final nail on the coffin.

It takes incredible skill to not only underperform that badly but lose money in a balanced fund when bonds had been king. Reminds me of the Classic: where are the customers' yacht? Maybe that's where his Porsche came from

Wonder why he flee to Perth? Maybe that's where people drive Porsches and doesn't take the metro... Oh wait...

Probably he should return to UK where The City will welcome back this distinguished local who has made a name for himself overseas. The irony is of course London has the oldest and first underground train in the world, and UK has a lower GDP per cap than Singapore. Maybe it's just British humour.
