Very very few would want to settle and retire here.
Singaporeans stay in Singapore because friends and family are here, decent schools and healthcare.
But most cant afford to go without a job for too long and is constantly stressed.
I understand that the limited resources we have in this country is causing everyone to pay a high price for everything
but still, it just does not go down well with me. Staying in another country will have drawbacks but life will be much easier.
Too many people are just too afraid to venture out and for those that did, they will think why they did not do so earlier.
Yes. the previous easy policy of treating PRs same as Citizens is wrong in its assumption. Allowed free riding for 'two-timing' FTs with no intention to convert to citizenship. PAP waking up its idea these past few years.
I would also say 99% of Myanmese and Thais will also not be citizen here and give up their citizenship elsewhere.
It is not difficult to imagine why if we think about it rather than be led by the headlines. Mobile citizenship only applies to those who are either high value added professionals or rich.
This is another misleading statistical headlines that conjures the wrong conclusion.
