Malaysian bank RHB eyes rapid growth in Singapore
SINGAPORE — RHB Bank is looking to significantly grow its business and headcount here as the Malaysian lender shifts its focus to corporate and investment banking, picking up its pace of expansion across South-east Asia.
The bank aims to triple its profits here by 2016 while doubling its staff strength to 1,000 at the same time, Group Director of International Business U Chen Hock said yesterday at the unveiling of RHB’s latest branch at Westgate in Jurong East.
“We are now in seven ASEAN countries. Our ambition is to have eight before the end of this year, and to grow our overseas revenue to 40 per cent by 2020. RHB Singapore is core to that ambition,” he said.
